It seems that both of the LJ HDT cars have now been located.

Does anybody know the where abouts of the LC ones ?

ive wondered the same thing too. ive also thought of painting my LC xu1 in 71 HDT war paint but as my car is a 70 it prob wouldnt be the thing to do.
does anyone know how many LJ HDT cars there were orig?. there was way more than just two, in 73 there is a pic in "bathurst toranas" book showing three at that time alone. plus the old circut cars did time as rally weapons.

The first LJ race cars were the silver ones with the pink day-glo writing. I saw them raced at Warwick Farm in the early part of '72. They had the steel rims.
Here is one at Oran Park.

Lots were just road cars with roll cages fittted..when the LJ came out they usually swapped the cage and traded in the car again as a roady..pays to look at your car for the tell tales rollcage bolt holes.

I know of a Yellow Dolly LC XU-1 which is in the final stages of a full resto, it's the ex Brock car and owned by a well known muscle car enthusiast who resides in Qld! :spoton:

So 2600S

that wouldn't be 32D surely ? If so are you saying that the car was originally yellow dolly ??

Who is the well know enthusiast ?

Hi Torrynut,

My understanding is that it's the same car Brock and Firth took to Macau, not sure If I have spelt this correctly, as for the owner, let's just say it's up to him to divulge the info but I am sure you know of him! :spoton:

Sorry but don't want to talk out of turn if you know what I mean?

That's exactly what said dude in Townsville did. He had his car on a rotisserie and noticed the roll cage holes..did some investigations and hey presto!

It reall does pay to check.

I must say it's looking a million bucks too. Very jealous.

Where are the typical 70s cage bolt holes for an LC?

The only genuine ex hdt lc that still exists is" saggy sarah" .the car started its life as the yellow dolly 1970 bond car KSN116, the was then painted green for bond then used as a rally car by hdt until being sold to peter janson, and then carried the number plate BJD440. the car was used extensively in rally/sports sedan by janson until being sold to bruce watt and converted to full time sports sedan. the car still has its current log book and is turn key."and been authenticated by harry firth/ian tate" and has the running gear of the brock rally cross beast, it lives in adelaide.KSA302 does not exist as it never came back from macau, i believe teddy yipp was using over there and was written off,so what ever is being built is a mock up.KRK720=BOI812 another transformation that does not exist, written off by barry ferguson i think.the two 71 lc bathurst cars were converted to rally cars in early 72 and carried the numbers ,KZR545,KZR565 ,these cars also got a lj facelift, cant help you with their fate but it wouldnt be good. the rally x beast was cut up,as most were just about totalled after rallying.there are 3 ex hdt ljs that still exist brocks 72/28c his 73/no1 and bonds 72/24c,bonds 73 car was written of on the way to surfers by a wine tanker, just ask wayne negus he was driving the 1 tonner.cheers daz :D :D

I can confirm the Macau car was trashed.(it was an LC with Globe 6 x 13 alloys on it for that race there..)LinaMint off memory???).have pics somewhere of it..It slammed the wall and the grill was somewhere near the windscreen line. I was in Macau when Warwick Brown was there for Theodore Racing/Lola T330/332 (cant remember) F5000 to run in the Tasman/Gold Star Series sponsored by Teddy Yip and saw the end result. Ugly. I am PISSED I missed 27 F5000s leaving the line at P.I....I would have been back in 1974! EVERYONE says the earth moved under you that day!

Sorry Daz..you are wrong..KSN-116 was the 1970 LC Yellow Dolly series Production car used to make the LC XU1 V8 prototype..Driven by Bond at Bathurst that year. refer autopics for the car with its plates attached.also see front cover of AMC Issue 9. At Easter Bathurst in 72 it evolved into a semi sports sedan with flared guards front and rear.I was sure Saggy Sarah was Brock series prod car from Bathurst in 1970 (40C).The Linamint car you refer to was a Opel boxed up front rally car selected by Harry off the first production run to put Bond straight into the Aust Rally Cjhampionships, it is featured on the Chevron CD for HDT as the promo car for HDT in rallies. I am shit caned sure the Macau car was LinaMint but I am always willing to be proven wrong with a colour photo.

I was there and can confirm it was a sensational weekend, was awestruck seeing an angry pack of F5000 coming around turn 1 for the first time... Not something I'll forget in a hurry... :spoton:

Stubber in that HDT A9X put on a great spectacle as well, that guy drives the car the way it was built to be driven.... flat chat!

I stand corrected..It appears Daz is right..I have more information..it would take too long to go through all it here. Suffice to say Saggy Sarah still lives and is as per Daz's information. Amazing!!
