A few weeks ago I was sent to work at the snow as part of operation 'Snow Safe'. We were based in a motel in Cooma and every day on the way to the snowfields I had drive past the Cooma wrecking yard. I kept looking at this place and saying to my partner (work partner that is) that I have to stop and have a walk thought that place. On the last day before driving home we stopped and had a look around. I could not believe the size of this place, 20 acres of cars from 1928 to 2008. I tool a heap of shots for you to have a look at and maybe pick out your next hot rod project. The details of the yard is as follows

FLYNN'S WRECKING YARD
OPEN: MONDAY TO FRIDAY 8am to 5pm
SATURDAY 8.30am to 12 noon.
408 Snowy mountains Highway, Cooma
ph:(02)64521866

The owner charges $10 for a look around and everything is for sale.

Enjoy and drool like I did.

Yours truly

Yes I have driven past there many a time and you can see the paddocks of cars from the road. Looks like it was worth the $10 for a look. So did you pick up any goodies?

HAHA! Very funny Ruts. Good one.... Your Photoshop skills are really fantastic! If such a place really existed, I'm sure you'd have to be dead to get there.

Yeah, I've seen that place. He didn't let anybody in for a while, must have sorted his public liability out.

God, if you were going past, you should have dropped in for a cuppa. I live behind Phil Chalker (look him up on your system).

That's amazing it would be just like walking through a cemetery,

what a waste!, however these might have a second chance

How does 1 person acquire so many cars just to have them rotting away

Cars that die in the snow? To expensive to tranport home? Niche market/monopoly?
There used to be a yard like that near Camperdown in Vic. I don't know if it's still there? :dontknow:

I spent some time talking to the owner. He said that his dad started the place when he was a kid. He gets a lot of calls from guys building rod's who are looking for that hard to get part. He also said that he is going to start putting stuff on ebay. He has that much good s%@t there that he could close the yard to the public and spend his time posting adds on ebay and still make fortune.

Its good to see that you can get in there again.

This was a well known source of early Holden parts for a while until the prices went up drastically and it closed. Interesting that it was public liability that caused that.

Its easy to spend a few hours wandering around and $10.00 is a cheap ticket to see what's in there.

thanks for sharing ruts...

A Sunday cruise wont do you much good unless you enjoy the drive and dont wish to go in...

I was speaking to Don Loffler (author of 'She's a Beauty' and other early Holden books) about 8 years ago and he told me that 48-215 utes are very rare now. Here's two just sitting patiently waiting to be saved.
