Hi,
Replaced the drivers seat in the LJ with this.
I didn't weight it, but can say that it weighed less than the original LJ seat...like much MUCH less.
However, I tried to find it's weight on the Sparco website.....what a mess....gave up.

Good seat for the track, not so nice on road.

Like all this stuff..it really comes down to your budget..think the seat was appx $450 and the required brackets were appx $80.pr.
Makes an immense difference on the track, compared to the slippery slidey standard one.

Hi Col,

Dredging up this old thread here.

I am about to install a Sparco driver's seat in the pink car and wonder how you went about it. I don't want to butcher the original LJ seat to get the base frame so what did you do. Did you make your own frame? What were the brackets you paid $80 for? Long time ago I know so hope you can remember.

This is the seat I have.

These are Cobra seats, not from a Cobra but the brand. They weigh 8.5 Kgs with runners. My runners are just a little bit lighter. Not really for people who have a big arse, They are a tight fit, strap on the harness and you can hardly move. I wanted a low back seat as the LCs came with. I don't think they are legal as they do not have the Australian Design sign on them.

For seat mounting, if running under CAMS, there are strict guidelines on how they need to be mounted.
Have used cobra and velo motorsport winged seats, great for safety and are comfy but not long distance city cruising comfy, although have spent full weekends 1000kms of driving in them.

Yes weight saving is good, also moving the weight in the vehicle for better distribution makes a big difference.
