Hey Guys and Girls, it's that time of the year. I'll be heading up to fly the Torana flag, I think there is a one other Torana coming up which is from Victoria it's a LH Brock replica. I'll be running in combined sedans again this year, we will have some strong competition again with plenty of ex V8 Supercars, Strong Sports Sedans, some Vic V8s, QLD touring cars, IPRA cars and some Trans Am TA2 cars. We will be first on the track again on Friday morning at 7:15am for our practice/qualifying session.
Race 1 will be on at 12:50pm Friday afternoon which is 10 laps or 1 lap after 14mins.
Race 2 8:10am Saturday morning again 10 laps or 1 lap after 9mins then
Race 3 2:45pm Saturday afternoon 10 laps or 1 lap after 16 mins

The other support categories are Group S (sports cars) historic
Radical sports cars
Obviously 12hr cars have plenty of track time and there is going to be some awesome cars and drivers heading there this year, it will be bigger and better than last year, if you've never been its an awesome event and you get plenty of access to the cars and teams.

Hope to see you there Chris Dates are February 2,3 and 4

I used to record it and flick through to find the highlights, but last year I watched the whole thing and was enthralled by it. Some TV coverage of the support races would make it legendary.

I believe the race is on channel 7 again and a livestream will cover the support races. Normally you can follow the livestream on bathurst12hr.com or alternatively on fox, will have to confirm but maybe someone could post a link for the livestream. If I find one whilst I'm there I will.

I don't have Fox, but I will follow a live stream if there is one.

To be honest I think I'd rather watch the 12-hour than the super-taxis in October!

It's much more akin to the touring car races of old, at least in as much as having all kinds of different classes all mixed in together.

I can't wait...

Awesome race and a serious test for man and machine over a very grueling 12hrs (at break neck pace). With 60+ cars of all sorts of configurations, your dead right its full of memories of the old Bathurst. Add to that a host of world class current drivers from OS racing right alongside our own Oz drivers. It certainly gives us a great spectacle.

Hi Chris

We will be up there again this year camping in the Paddock.

Will try and catch up with you in the pits.

As a support category, you guys provide awesome entertainment.

All the best.

Steve

For those of you reading this and thinking of going to Bathurst for the 12 Hour - do it!

We go to the 12 Hour in February, the 6 Hour at Easter and the 1000 in October and the 12 Hour is by far the pick.

Quick update, we took the cars out yesterday IP went great it felt very direct on turn in even with old tyres and a stinking hot day. So we should be looking good with a new set of tyres. In the offseason I changed gearboxes, same gearbox but different ratios. It's a BW single rail which came out in cortinas and Falcons, I now have a longer first gear and closer 2nd 3rd and 4th. Not much of a difference but it may help with the rolling starts ? My Father bought a Nc car at the end of last year, we took it out for a shakedown run, it was ex Mick Donaher, Greg Toepfer and A few other guys. It seems well constructed and has a decent motor which was a good platform for what we are hoping to do with a race car. It is going to take us a little while to get it sorted, it goes quite well however it's a little soft for my liking. Will post some videos and give a wrap up once I'm home in a week or 2. Cheers Chris.

Sounds great Chris. Good luck with it all mate! I will try to get up there to watch but it will be hard as we are doing kitchen renos at the moment... I presume I can buy tickets at the gate? If it works out I might shoot out there with my kids and watch for a while- get them out of my misses hair for a while lol.

I had a weekend of ups and downs. Blew the motor on lap 5 of qualifying, so engine out in the day time. I was left at the inside of the cutting for 4hours, which didn't have enough time to swap motors over before race 1. For the record it took 3 hours and 15 minutes with help from my great team. Anyway out we go in the trusty old motor from last year again, starting from P52 I made it up to P22 great video to come in a few days. Got down to a 2:33:6 which is a great time for the old car, I was hoping for a low 2:31 but it will have to do. Race 3 started in P22 and made my way to P14, race was shortened to 6 laps and 3 were behind the safety car which sux. But all in all was fun, I don't think I'll be going back there in the IP car again, not unless I have a less stressed engine going up and down the hill. Or I go to a dry sump set up ??

Videos will come in a few days.

Great? That's absolutely spectacular!

The HDT XU-1's in the 1973 race were only doing high 2:34's and that was on a shorter track (back when Conrod Straight was actually straight, before the "do-gooders" got their hands on it).

Looking forward to the video!

As for the main 12hr race on Sunday... well, apparently twelve hours ain't quite as long as it used to be? What a rip-off, they didn't even give Whancup the chance to do his trademark run-out-of-fuel-in-the-last-lap maneuver.

Yes, well done- excellent time. Shame about the new engine though Chris- what was the cause? Oil starvation? DId you throw a leg?

Not 100% sure as yet, the sump has a few dents and the rod tried to come out the back of number six. Block will be a throw away hopefully we can save some stuff from it.

Hi Chris

Once again our paths did not cross.

I saw qualifying but when the car did not return to the pits assumed there were problems. Then it was missing from race 1. The grid marshal advised the car had been withdrawn. I missed race 2 but was at the Chase for race 3. What a cracker. A little Torana mixing it with ex Supercars, Sports Sedans and modern day Production Cars. Your driving is awesome to watch - great stuff.

Looking forward to the in-car.

Steve

Thats a real shame Chris. Do you run an accusump setup? Might be worth considering if oil starvation has been the cause- or even dry sump the new engine? Hard hit to take though- I feel for you.

I will be running an accusump on my new build- when I eventually get around to it. Life just keeps getting in the way of my car... Were doing house renovations now so thats soaking up a lot of time and cash- but I have a short block ready to go with Manley long rods and ross forged pistons. Just need a head and some small things to finish it up.

Bloody awesome car!
Great footage!
Love watching it give modern cars & V8 etc the hurry up!! πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ‘
You certainly can steer the little beast !
Gave me goosebumps watching while trying to explain to my 12 year old son that it’s a 6 Torana as he’s pointing out skylines & evo’s pffft! 😜
Any idea how fast you were going down conrod?

It's down heaps on power to everything else in the race other than the minis hahahahaha. The car is geared to probably 240 kph, she has nothing in a straight line I just have to hold it pinned and keep up corner speed.
