Hi Guys,
It has been a long time since I have visited this great site and now I would like some information on who to use to either recondition or replace the original seat belts from my late brother inlaws SLR Torana faithful restoration. I believe there is a company in Western Australia but is there any other places that can rebuild or replace these lap / sash belts in all the original colours and fixtures on the east cost?
I am going to view the progress of the body work later this week and hopefully it won't be long after that, that the paint work can be completed then the upholstery can be done. The project already has all new upholstery ready to go from hood lining to door panels, kick panels, dash, carpet and seats nothing else is missing in this build just the seat belts.
Any and all help is much appreciated in getting this project finished to the high standards desired by the late owner.

Hey Cobbadog,

Seatbelt Solutions in WA are great to deal with. I have spoken to the owner, he stands behind his work. He does great work.

You should give them a call, as you might have to send buckles if yours are broken.

I used Seatbelt Solutions in Perth, top work, gave them 2 sets of buckels etc and they used the best ones I supplied to make a complete good set. At the time they even offered a discount being a GMH Forum member.

~ in all the original colours and fixtures ~ Any and all help is much appreciated in getting this project finished to the high standards desired by the late owner.

According to the parts cattledog, seat belts only came in either Dark Ash, Chestnut & Black colours in the LH Torana and only up until ADR4B was introduced on 1st January 1975.

All Torana seat belts post ADR4B including late LH, all LX & UC models appear to have had only one colour option, being black.

Pre ADR4B LH Torana seat belts came from one of two different suppliers, Cooldrive or Rainsford, identified as follows:

Post ADR4B onward the Rainsford style changed and a couple of extra suppliers, Essex and Kangol came on board, identified as follows:

Seat-Belt-ID-post-1974.jpg

Lastly, pre ADR4B were either "Lap & Shoulder" or "Retractor" type for both outboard front seating positions.

Whereas all seat belts post ADR4B were the retractor type only for the front positions.

Hi Guys,

Thank you to everyone who has offered a solution. the company in Perth we have their contact details and have had a quote from them and we thought that it was way over the top price wise but we do know that quality is going to be a big issue with finishing this project so if $1200.00 + postage each way is the going price then that is it.

This Torana does not have the retractable belts so is a simple one to do.  and the colour would then be "Chestnut" as they are a light tan colour.

I look forward to hearing about the other contact in Victoria.

I can't wait to see what stage the Torana is at when we go this Thursday afternoon.

Thanks again for the help.

Doesn't he deserve any publicity, Gene? :<_<:

I have no idea on price myself but my initial thought of the $1200 quote was that it seems like an awful lot of money, especially when there's no inertia reels involved?

Yes, Bigfella $1200 was way over the top for a standard type of belt.

Belts are off to Victoria. Details of that supplier that I have is Peter Blanas and a contact mobile phone number. My Nephew who is sending the belts rang him and gave him a FaceAche page to view to which I dont have as I do do FaceAche. The page apparently shows great detail of the high quality work he does and shows an XU1 set to view.

Not sure if it is right for me to post his mobile number here being new to the site and not sure of any issues with free publicity. PM me and I can provide it or if told it is ok to post I will.

New price is $750.00 + postage which is a big savings from the first quote.
