Morning, Evening, Ladies, Gents...
I give you the second most rustiest hatch ive seen/owned. I bought this early 2013 after a tip off from another member, Ken / Niterida. Was from Geraldton WA I think. Rang the guy and bought it sight unseen aside from a few pictures from Ken. I was under no illusions about the amount of rust in the thing though and always planned for it to be a long term one day project.
Well I finally got it moved to my new place in Tasmania. Don't get too excited though. I don't expect to fly through with progress and complete a 12month build. Im not even totally sure what im going to do with it. IE A9X Replica, Modified to the max, street car, race car, show car etc.
Its a Sunbird so im pretty free to do whatever I want without worrying about de-valuing it haha.
Plans for the moment are to strip it right down to parts and bare metal, Get it in epoxy so there will at least be some hatch left when I do want to get stuck into it. My Sedan build took 14 years so If I can do this in 10 years its an improvement! Although If you count from 2013 im already 6+ years into it!
So its easier to list the places that don't have (as much) rust:
-Roof is actually pretty dam good except a few spots around the windows
-Bonnet
-Back half of the floor
-Engine bay
Drivers A-Pillar and both sills need complete re-working!
Anyway here is some pics of how it is now (basically as I got her, maybe its got a little worse since then) you can see my attempt at slowing the rust by spraying cavity wax in all the rust holes
