Hi all ,I have stock standard Girlock callipers on my LCGTR ,with 6" Sprintmasters ,the callipers are scraping on the inside of the rim ,only slightly making contact ,do I need spacers ? I thought these would bolt straight on with no hassles , thanks Paul.

Thought they came factory with spacers. One of few cars they are legal on. Not that I'm an expert.

The Sprintmasters should bolt straight on and clear the calipers. Not going to hurt to put one spacer on each each front wheel, should gain a little clearance.

Thanks guys! If the 6” Sprintmasters are designed to bolt straight on what could be causing the clearance problem with the calliper?

Are they original GMH supplied Sprintmasters? Have you tried another rim?

I can see your problem - the stick on wheel weights.

Yeah Kockum, that was definitely one of the problems , I removed them , but still scrapes on the calliper.

Can they be machined? I'm getting the backs of my Sampson's turned down 5mm to help guard clearance. $70 per wheel at Extensive Wheel Services in Adelaide.

Mine did this on my sprintmasters.
Angle grinder to caliper = clearance

CSA sprintmasters should go on std calipers without a problem. Sorry that I don't have an answer to the problem.

With my Volvo calipers and sprintmasters I need to make sure thin weights are used otherwise the calipers will knock them off.

My Globe sprintmasters did the same but only on the weights they used, so they re-positioned the weights closer to the edge of the inner rim. Its pretty close tolerances in there between the caliper and inner rim.

Wheel tracking mate.

3 spacers on each front wheel Mark.

Are you sure that it's not 2 per front wheel & 1 per back wheel on early 72's Dave ? I should remember, but i don't atm.

I have a set of spacers out of the lc xu1 atm actually, so if you like, i can measure the thickness of them.
You must have spacers in yours, or you couldn't have xu1 discs, unless they where really worn.

Car came with 1 spacer on each front wheel and 1 spacer on each rear. I can measure my own which I think are OEM but just wanted to know whether the repro dimensions were the same. My original brake rotors were replaced in the early 80's by the bloke I bought the car off (mate)as they used to squeal loudly every time he braked so he got the shites and went and bought new ones from the local Holden dealer and replaced them, however he kept the original rotors which I also have.
