I'll bite. The LC panel is plastic, not aluminium. Which is why they are so hard to get and decent ones cost a fortune!

As for the letters, a bloke named Scott (I think he is a forum member) advertises them on ebay at times (look under Torana dash). Since he posted his mobile on ebay, I will put it here - I guess the mods can remove it if need be. 0438915611

Lc has plastic with the key there and the heater/vent controls in the centre dash. Lj has the key on the column and heater controls instead of the key and I think they are alloy.

Brought some off ebay (not sure if it was from Scott) 6 month ago but was very disappointed so much so that I made my own. It took a fair amount effort to find the correct font and playing around in photoshop to get it right but I am now happy with the results. For the prototype labels I used white decal paper and printed the background in black so it only suits a black panel. If there was enough interest I was going to get them printed on clear decal paper with white lettering and offer to the members.

By the way this was only for a LJ panel, I'm not sure what lettering is on a LC.

This was the first test, the 'Demist' got a bit damaged, but you get the idea.

I recall some years ago you could get an "insert panel" that stuck over the top of the inset section done in carbon fibre or other finishes. It was back around 2004 at American Autos (Rare Spares) at Homebush from memory. May not be what you're ideally after but figured I'd put it out there anyway.
