Yeh there $275...However i enquired at the osborne park store in Perth about them...They have to order them in which is fine..

How ever theres an extra $50 shipping cost...
Not sure if im whinging but when u go online to the perth store to order them there $275..I take it litterally thats the price in store..

So i ring to order some and get told about the shipping...

Yeh im sure if i was over east at a store that had them it would be a flat $275.

Yeah $50 is just bullsh!t.

Why should you have to pay shipping at all to buy them from a store anyway?

All these retailers whinging that everyone is buying online, stop ripping us off then!

Rant Over!

Hi All Joe from Rare Spares here!

I am sure you all realise that with the cost of freight today when a store in Perth orders a fender from Melbourne the cost for him to get it there is not cheap due to weight and bulk. Unlike most other things that we purchase it does not get cheaper with a 'bulk' order unfortunately.

Taking into account the fact that until April of this year these fenders were $485.00 each that at now $275.00 each it doesn't allow inclusion of freight costs from Melbourne.

So therefore this store in Perth is not trying to rip any one off he is just recouping his cost that these large bulky discounted items are charged to him which I am sure you would all agree is fair enough!.

Looking at it in this light should show you that the discount is still quite substantial.

Potta - in regards to the $12 shipping fee - on the Rare Spares web site it states the following which is what you will receive with the confirmation of your order :

'Orders will be processed on BUSINESS DAYS ONLY (Mon-Fri, excluding Public Holidays). For orders freighted within Australia PLEASE ALLOW 2-14 WORKING DAYS. For international orders PLEASE ALLOW 7-45 DAYS. This may vary depending on the shipment method used. For deliveries within Australia a minimum of $12 shipping and handling fee applies. Some larger/fragile items may incur additional shipping costs, these costs will be relayed to you for approval. The shipping costs for all international order will be forwarded for approval.'

I hope that this has helped to clarify some of your concerns.

Cheers

Joe

I never said it was $12, merely quoting someone else.

I do appreciate your response to my rant though Joe, and I do see where your coming from.

However, that is $100 more someone in Perth has to pay for a set of front guards.

We're not all rich over here you know.

You want to give people a service and a quality of product that makes them want to come back, not charge them stupid amounts and hope that they will have to come back because they can't get the part anywhere else.

That's my bit of business advice for the day  :D

It was me saying $12 obviously without reading the fine print...

My point is if i went into the perth store and they happened to have the fenders...would they say thats $275 but oh by

the way we had to ship them here so its another $50....Ive never been into a store that has done that

and when they dont have stock they say we have to get them in ...and ive never been asked to pay the shipping

and thats personal items and through my work.

So to be honest i couldnt care less what he paid to get them here there listed at $275 and thats what i expected to pay.

Call me a whinger over $50 if u want...

Hi Joe,

The store that is in Perth is it a Rare Spares store if yes the cost of freight from Melbourne to Perth shouldn't be passed on to the consumer.

Les stated "that standard front fenders have been reduced to $275.00 to clear stock" there was no mention about freight costs so by right you need to honour these prices.

Most disturbing part of this thread.... At $275 you are still making money, reduced from $485 ?... Reduction of $210 or 43% ?

So regardless of when and how they get to a store, you have obviously been raping the enthusiast until now ? When can we expect fluted varieties to drop by a similar margin ?

My favourite pet hate RETAIL its bullshit you want people to buy but you also want to kill us on prices the way i look at it if it wasnt for the car enthusiast you wouldnt have a business and yes parts would be harder to find but at least the original parts will fit
Why dont you start a reward system the more you buy the more you save works for me

We got a deal from the manufacturer on these and passed it on to the customers other people may not have passed it on as we did. For you information we have about 3 pair left at this price.

We are not trying to hold customers to ransom as was suggest because you can in fact buy them elsewhere also plus freight see below. I did not even think about the freight I was just trying to pass on a saving to our customers it would appear I made a mistake.

Hi les, it should cost the same regardless of which state.

It's very poor PR.

All this kerfuffle over 50 bucks freight on a pair of std front fenders and you probably won't find them cheaper than the deal Les has offered, "ever again".

Seems to me the std LC & LJ front fenders are not a big seller, why else would the manufacturer want to offer a better deal to clear their stock.

Doubt you'll ever see GTR fenders going for $275.00 ea plus freight.

Les, thanks for keeping the Forum members informed.

Cheers

Dave.

If these fenders are reduced to clear stock does this mean that they will not be available in the future or are they just taking up to much room in the warehouse? Not everyone has a genuine GTR or XU-1 that they are restoring and I have no intention of turning mine into a replica XU-1, an "S" model factory fitted to GTR specs may be rarer than a GTR anyway.

These fenders are ongoing just not at the current price the next batch will probably revert back to the original price $475.00.
