We are very interested in reproducing the items listed below as per original, however after many months of searching we have not been able to locate good condition, genuine GMH product to use as reference. (We did begin development of the rear spoiler kit previously however the samples we had weren't sufficient.)

GMH Part Number/s - Description

9932019, 9932020 - Front Spoiler LH, LX A9X

9932349, 9932350 - Front Flares LH L34, LX A9X

9929254, 9929255 - Rear Flares LX A9X Hatchback

9937314, 9937315, 9937316, 9937317 - Rear Flares LH L34

92001769, 92001770, 92001771 - Rear Spoiler Kit LX A9X Hatchback (3pcs)

I have seen over eight different rear spoiler kits for the LX A9X hatch but none have been verifiably genuine GMH.

I have spoken to many restorers and customers but we have not had any success in sourcing these samples for reference due to their fragile nature and the widespread past aftermarket reproduction.

We were hoping that perhaps some generous members here may be able to assist with supplying or loaning genuine reference samples. If you can help, please post pictures here or PM/email me.

Kind Regards,

Edan Miller

So will one of the above part numbers be on the inside of the flare somewhere? I have one front flare which might be a GMH item.

A9X, so far we have reproduced the GMH Part No.:9936515 (Rare Spares Part No.: H1232) which is to suit LH, LX 4 Door. We have also added the three Hex head bolts (with captive washer) to this kit so all fasteners required for fitment are now supplied when you buy H1232. We were lucky enough to have the sample loaned to us for this project by a local Torana restorer. Unfortunately I haven't had much luck with the genuine sample of the LX A9X Hatch three piece rear spoiler kit.

Vick, that is the difficult aspect of identifying these genuine samples - as far as part number markings go I don't believe they were actually present on these parts. So I think some factors which help to give more assurity that the parts are probably genuine are the look, fitment and fastening aspects. I shall post the parts book diagrams and fastening details here. The flares are especially difficult to identify, can you post or email me some pictures perhaps? That may be a good start. If anyone else can offer advice on identifying these parts or suggestions for sourcing genuine samples for development feel free to weigh in.

Thanks for that Edan.

Lance is currently looking at an issue i have with your spoiler fitment.

I may have a single flare with a gmh part number sticker on it. I'll confirm over the weekend.

I have a new front spoiler in the box, however I am reluctant to sell it, and since I have helped out a few companies including rares in the past with a variety of parts to copy and they have made money from it and I have received nothing at all and screwed over by one in particular, I would be wanting some sort of payment and guarantee I would receive my items back in the exact same condition.

Below are the parts book illustrations and applicable part breakdowns for the genuine samples we are after. From the fasteners listed it is possible to confirm some aspects. With regard to the LX A9X Rear Spoiler Kit fastening to my understanding the centre boot lid piece should have four concealed studs and four fitted nutserts which are all not visible from the outside of the vehicle, each of the the left and right quarter panel end pieces should have three externally visible self tapping screws and one concealed stud as shown in the illustration.

A9X, thanks.

If we did gain assistance from a member with a sample to develop a product we would arrange compensation in the form of parts or the like. We don't expect a free ride. If a member was local to the Victoria metro region I would quite likely pick the sample up myself as I have done many times in the past with projects as this is often the safest way, if located interstate we would have to arrange a safe means of transport which we would pay for of course.

I look forward to seeing some posts/messages from people who can assist as it would be great to see these parts made available.

REDA9X, I can appreciate your point of view - especially given the rarity. Did you have some pictures you could email me of it? What state are located in? Is it an LX A9X front spoiler or a standard?

We would arrange compensation for the loan if it is a genuine spoiler, let me know what you had in mind and we can discuss it it all more if you want to drop me an email or give me a call.

The A9X, L34 and LH SLR5000 front spoilers are the same, 2 piece plastic. The ends were just cut on the L34 and A9X. The LX SLR and SS spolers were one piece plastic and were smaller.

I'd have to check my facts here but I think in the LH book it's listed as one assembly, as in you had to buy the whole thing, while in the LX book each side has a part number.

The one I have is the whole assembly two piece front spoiler, still new in the box. I'm in NSW. I'd have to seriously have a think about it.

REDA9X, let me know what you think.

Hanra, indeed - LH front spoilers were same as LX A9X hatch and 4 door. Not listed as a package part number though in the LX book. The hatch rear spoiler picture you posted does look like the self tappers are correct for the quarter panel pieces from the parts book illustration....

I am interested to know what you supplied Rare Spares as a sample and did not receive any compensation once the part was remade as this is not normally the case . If we make something from the sample supplied by a customer we usually give them 1 or 2 reproduction parts as compensation.

Les  I supplied The upper and lower gear shift boots, a selection of decals, rubber items, and a variety of other components. Some things to rares, others to other companies. I was later told then went to rares to be made or they are now part of the Rares inventry. I have delt with you in the past however LES and I found you to be very helpful and you did help me out with a couple of items when you were looking at doing the washer bottles, so my comment wasn't directed at you. Really was disappointing when I was making a few items in particular to then look on ebay one day and see someone else who had bought the items from me then selling them by the hundreds when they knew full well I was making them. I don't really want to go into it too much because to be honest when I think of it, it disappoints me but as someone said to me there are no friends in business. Easy way to find out who your friends are.

I am however of the feeling that if I'm to release this spoiler, considering the money I was recenty offered for it, My reluctance to let it go, and the fact someone will be making money from it, I would want to be compensated well for the loan.

We do make parts for a profit so when we make the spoiler we will be making money from it, that's the business we are in. But it will not be profitable over night we spend a lot of time and money making parts and in some case the return may not be there for many years , if at all sometimes we make parts as almost a service . These spoilers will sell but there is a lot of competition out there just about every fibreglass manufacturer makes them wether they fit or not is another question.
It's up to you what you want to do with the spoiler sell, loan or whatever it should not get damaged in the manufacturing process as we will only take a mould to make a pattern, but I still would not guarantee there would be no damage.
If at any stage you do make parts please let us know as we are always looking to add to our range this goes for anyone on this forum we do buy from a current forum member at the moment.

Nice indicators Holden!

& that is NOT how the A9X front spoiler meets the flare!

Gawd, the truth is out there some where Mulder.

Les, Eden..........go and have a look at a real A9X & take a camera!

BTW I also gave RRS OEM stuff and they supplied reproduction items in return so I am all good. :)

Understand what your saying, Baron - the parts book diagrams can be a bit abstract/reused/artistic in their portrayal but its more to check fasteners used and locations. Finding an A9X with a genuine GMH front spoiler fitted which is undamaged/ihas not been repaired is like seeing Camiras on the road these days as daily drivers- it's not a common thing.. A camera isn't going to help us much, hard genuine parts to make patterns from are what's going to help us and that's why I'm here. Looking for some people who are willing to help make something that's better than what's currently on offer. Mulder isn't answering the call so I assume he's not of any use in this case.

I've seen a few of these parts come off A9Xs and no two are the same in fitment/fastening and they don't match parts book fastening. I also have an instruction drawing for the A9X hatch rear spoiler from GMH and it matches the parts book.

A9X and Vick sound like they may possibly be able to assist with flares... The call still stands. Has anyone got good genuine GMH samples of these parts that can assist. Post pictures, email me, call me? I'm all ears.

les and edan
as far repro front spoiler goes
if your considering makeing them ie both sides
out of fibreglass i seriously would not bother!
if you are to make them out of plastic and make them well
it would pay to make them to suit LH slr5000 for fitment with no flares
prospective buyer option is thus wider rangeing
as this is how they came from gmh
standard part required trimming to suit L34 and A9X

rear spoiler centre section studs are 1/4 unc with a flat round head welded to the bracket 7/16 head nuts are also used

I see one Camira sedan and a Camira wagon driving on my way to work everyday!! But we a bit behind the times up here in woop woop.

I to have been reimbursed by way of free products by RSP when helping out with bits and bobs. Im just happy that I've contributed to the Torana spare parts community in a positive way.

Les/ Edan

are you guys interested in doing the LX SS and SLR Front Spoiler?

The one that I am talking about is the one piece, plastic one that is not as deep as the L34/ A9X one.

No one is doing them. And I have a good sample here that you could borrow.

cheers

Mick
