Did you build that motor Warren or did you buy it? I only ask because my brother sold one with the same crank and carbs years ago. I remember it being quite torquey for a six, but it didn't like revving beyond about 5000. His was built by Wayne Bell if I remember correctly.

No I didn't build it, I got it about 5 years ago as it came with a project I bought at the time, just behind Perth airport, it was complete except for sump, , had to change spigot bush as it must of been running a different box to the all Aussie,, other than that it's sweet, tricky rocker cover as the height of rockers, studs and push rods was quite high, and yes she. Is torquey , and has now got about 1000 kms on her since the motor went back in to the LJ
I was lead to believe it came from a ex speedway car

It could be the same one. My brother's was running a Supra 5 speed. If I remember correctly it had 1.65 Yella Terra rockers back in the day. He hit a roo in it and destroyed all the panels forward of the windscreen. He put a V8 in it when it was rebuilt.

When I was a younger lad there was a guy (anthony) that had a 235 in his EJ

Sounded great for a 6

No idea what happened to it

Same motor , different rocker cover,
Had to do the exhaust gasket after the 550 klm run to Perth, Two Rocks, motorplex and back to Busso,
So I did the 2 flange gaskets as well,
Running 205/13/60
With the 3.36 fine spline I was raving to 55000 with the strocker thought that was pretty good,
Very quick down low,
For the Torana west weekend I swapped the diff to a 2.78 LSD
Still revs stron down low and now it's comfortable on 110 klm pulling 2800 rpm...

Gives you an idea why Hemi 265’s with triple carbs go so well. Cubic inches is always the answer! I’ve always wanted to see a 6 lover work a 292 Chev 6 like the way Holden 6’s get worked. There are a fair few HK-HJ coming back from South Africa with 250ci versions of the same engine, many already have TH350 boxes. Some are well priced too.
Here is one but a Powerglide. Work this with triples!

I don't know if the parts are available but a 292 chev with triple Webers and a head that's the equivalent of the jzed head would be an interesting project.

I don’t think you’d need to go to that expense. One of these would do and make serious power compared to the smaller Holden 6.

Some good info here. Love the welded together SBC heads!

Yes and triple 2” SU would certainly make it move and simple to setup. :-)

Jump on youtube and check out the Chevrolet Opalas in Brazil drag scene. Most run a 250ci 6.
Some make close to 2000hp apparently.

Been reading about them on US sites. Looks like a 60 thou overbore to 5litres, lump port head, good balance and a very expensive damper are the go. Combine with a 4BBL manifold and Holley sniper plus hyperspark and extractors and it’d probably go as hard as most 5 litre V8’s with mild mods.
