what's better powder coating or painting LJ xu1 front end and diff housing.
Gary, I had my XU1 diff housing, trailing arms and springs powder coated almost 30 years ago and still good as new under the road grime and the usual oily deposits.
Had mine done in Gloss black but if I was to do it again I'd go for the satin black.

I just had my control arms from WB ute re-bushed and despite best attempts to not scratch them, it happened. Fortunately these are only painted with Chassis black so no drama but not sure what you would do with powder coated parts. Cheers Ron

I am not a great fan of powder coating although i have been paid quite well to set up a couple of big powder coat lines.
The roof rack on my 4x4 was powder coated and the coating cracked on the welds in the tight corners
where the expansion/ contraction rates differed, and then started to rust underneath the coating.
I have seen this happen on electric motors as well. I don't think it likes temperature change very much.
I am sure you have all seen powder coat lift and flake.

You guys related ? Both apparently own toranas. Cars that have no pics or have ever been sighted by any other human

I've sighted both! I can vouch they do have a Torana each.
Think I'm human??

Powder coatings pretty easy, just throw it all at my neighbor & get it back a few days later done.
I'll por15 the diff but I'm unsure of the front end.
Cheers

If you get it powderprimed with a zp powderprimer before the top coat powdercoating is fine.
If its just the topcoat you will regret it as soon as you start driving the car.
