Hey guys, I think we're long overdue for a GMH-Torana Forum get-together. Spring is just around the corner, and I've been in talks with the manager down at Autobarn in Bayswater. He's keen and I'm keen to throw on a show - but what about you?

For those who weren't around, we've done this once before many years ago - see the link below for a quick reminder - photos are spread across pages 7 to 10 - it was an awesome day out, even with average weather:

http://www.gmh-toran...ayswater/page-8

Here's what we propose for this time around:

When? Sunday 20th Nov 2016

Where? Autobarn - Bayswater (183-225 Canterbury Rd, Bayswater North) - same group of shops as Bunnings & BCF.

Time? From 9am onwards - winding up around 2-3pm (or as late as people hang around for)

To lock in the show, I'd need a good number of people willing to commit to bringing their ride down and hanging around for as much of the show as possible.

However I also highly encourage people who can only come down for an hour or two as well - creating a "rolling car show" throughout the day. I'm very keen to keep this super laid back and casual. But the more people who join in, the better the show.

Food? Bunnings will have their sausage sizzle running as always which makes food & drinks easy. Plenty of other options around the local area too. Bunnings also have toilets.

Cars? Keen to keep this 90% focussed on Toranas and GMH-Torana forum members, however if people have other cool rides they want to bring along, go for it. You might even want to bring along a mate with a cool ride too.... I'd personally love to see some fresh cars or projects in progress etc... the wider the variety the better.

So who's up for it? Let's gauge the level of interest and see if this is a go-er or not. Plenty of notice - and it'll be a great time of year...

I'll bring my LX along to get the ball rolling.

count me in x2

I don't think it will be too hard to get another driver, or maybe the wife will drive one down. Either way, I'm in

If I remember I'll be there in my LH, I'll put the word out to the torana social cruisers too and see if that boosts numbers if that's alright? Most of the guys who are a part of it aren't on this site

Sort of in the same boat. Hoping my car will be well and truly ready by then but still got some paint work that has to be done. Also will be moving house later in the year but no dates set yet.

What date Brett would you need to know by?

You guys seem to have other vehicles of interest that would be great to see if the Torana not ready

Agree completely, if the Torana's are not running, bring something else along. It all boosts numbers and generates interest for the general public.

We don't need exact numbers for this, and there's no cut-off date - it's not that formal. I'm just looking for expressions of interest, and commitments where possible. This will at least enable us to lock it in.

I would want 20+ cars locked in. 30 or 40+ would be better! These events always tend to bring in a lot of last minute interest too.

On another note - if we pull a good crowd in, Autobarn are more likely to offer prizes, store discounts etc.

I don't know anything about the Torana Social Cruisers, but don't see any issues with extending the invite. More Torana's on display makes it more interesting for us. Does anyone else see any issues with this?

Autobarn will also produce a flyer for this if we commit, so we can advertise later down the track when it's closer. I would even consider an ad in the paper a week or two out. Time to rally the Torana community!

I see no issue with extending the invite.
I'm guessing using Facebook would be a good spot to post also ( not that I'm on it ).

The biggest factor on the day will be the weather, but being Melbourne that's not even something you can expect the forecast to get right

Yeah could always bring the Vette I guess. Lock me in Brett although I'll probably arrive a little later than 9am.

Torana social cruisers are just a Melbourne based crew of torana owners that get together for drives and the odd event. Basically for someone who doesn't want to be a member of a club (as it is not a club) but wants to get out there and have a drive, been to a few things with them and it's always been fun and relaxed.
There is a bloke who does run it to some degree but again it's nothing formal

Is there a facebook page or something for the Torana social cruisers group?

Yeah there is mate.

Just search for: Aussie Torana Legends (social cruisers)

It's a bit of a mouthful but if you request to get added you should be right, the bloke who runs the whole thing is Colin Crane, great bloke and an absolute Torana nut, tell him Daniel with the Aquarius LH sent yas over so he knows where the request is coming from

Brett, my torry is currently on rotisserie but could bring the HR wagon if that OK. At least it doesn't have an offensive 4 letter word starting with "F" badge on it. Cheers Paul. You could also contact torana club of vic to get more torries there as they are based in kilsyth.

Good stuff Daz.

Paul - bring down the wags, and yes - will definitely mention to the Torana club, hopefully they'll have a few keen to come along.

Any more interest in this? Will let this thread run for another month or so, but if the expressions of interest don't rise much more we might have to pull the pin.

Spring is nearly here, so hopefully that sparks some motivation.

I will have both Toranas, but I hope to have two HQ coups, '29 Rod, '32 Rod, HQ one tonner and a '70's GTO with me also.
I can only say mine fore sure, but the others are keen too.
See how we go

Hi all. This show is now confirmed. Autobarn needed an answer, so we've agreed to proceed. Please mark the date in your calendars and spread the word.
