LC Torana 2 Door

Hi guys,

So after many years of thinking about it I finally bit the bullet and picked up my first project car.

It needs a lot of work but it's a start.

I'm undecided on the flared guards at the moment I might keep them or cut them out of the rear and fit new front guards.

It's just an 'S' Torana so I will have a bit more flexibility when restoring it as I don't need to worry about keeping it genuine.

My first jobs going to be stripping that primer off and seeing what's under there and how screwed I am....

It looks pretty straight though.

Anyway here's some pics

Congrats Matt.

If it isn't a GTR it certainly has had all the LC GTR interior trim fitted at some point in it's life. Looks like the stainless trim is still attached to the top of the passenger door.

Trust me I drove nearly 500k’s to bring it home so it was overly strapped

It came with a GTR Dash and a bunch of chrome trim pieces
 

What's the dates on the GTR instruments? 10 or 11 or 12/1969?

Just my opinion mate, but going back to standard wheel arches it will look 2000 % better, if it has some gtr bits, you could make it up like a modified gtr, or a V8 optioned gtr or something a little different in that matter. Fingers crossed for the primer coming off mate, hopefully the bodies really good. Gary.

i did actually, i only quoted the bit i was commenting on,  

my point was just that it travelled 500km doesn't mean it was strapped on properly. 

the straps across the bonnet and through the window would have loosened and tightened with every movement of the suspension, putting stress on the panels,  regardless of it being strapped front and rear.

if it was strapped to the body with suspension loaded then it was strapped incorrectly, if it was strapped to the unsprung parts of the drive train then refer my comment above about the straps across the body.

either way its not well strapped on  hence my original comment.   

nothing you can say will change the fact that its not well strapped down

Matt, unfortunately she was originally an 82311 with front drum brakes.

Gave the old girl a good clean out today and removed all the Rat Poo out of it

I don't think it's too bad and hopefully it's a sign that there's not too much of a mess under the primer.

The body lines look pretty straight when looking down the side of the car and the panel gaps look pretty good, but it's my first rebuild so I don't really know.

What do you guys think?

Can't say the same about the floorpan, but the drivers side is the worst, however I think I'll replace both front sides while the car is apart.

The boot is pretty good.

This is the first place I think I'll start as it will bee a good place for me to practice my paint stripping, priming and repainting skills.
