Very interesting!

Was it you that had the flares done?

Did it have tags on the car when you had it? Do you know what happened to them?

Do you know if it is a GTR?

Gong is talking about the Plum Dinger engine bay shot, not your car.

Yes, it’s a very basic welder so I’m not making it easy for myself.

I think I’ll have to upgrade to try and help with my shitty welds

Gas welder is preferable. Better still TIG. Don’t be afraid to turn up the juice. You need a good earth and get some heat in to the subject matter or the welds are just sitting on top.

Above all you need to be welding clean steel or your welds will be porous and weak.

Getting a gas mig would help with your welding as others have said. There are also options out there to 'buy' a bottle outright rather than having to pay rent on the bottle.

Matt, saw this at the phillip island classis today, thought it might give inspiration for the flared guard look, don't know about supercharger though, cheers paul

This weekend I ground back my welds and did most of it again, this time with the welder on max voltage (mine only has min or max) I was also much slower with how fast I went over the seam which got much more heat and better penetration into it.

I then ground them back again (I know, I'm a grinder not a welder) and hit it with seam sealer and a bit of rust proof paint (until I paint the whole floor.

Not as good as most of the other work on this site but I'm pretty happy with it now.

1971 Australian Rally Champion right there.

You could do a lot worse than copying Saggy.

Started a repair on the drivers side kick panel area this weekend

I had a section of sill panel left over so I am shaping that to be the replacement piece

Does anyone know who's car this is or what the colour is called?

Is it the Holden Cyan Blue?

I think it might be the colour for mine when it's ready

Yeah, Macka built that car and then had to sell it. I think someone from the forum bought it.

One of the nicest looking LCs out there I think.

Here is the build thread: http://www.gmh-toran...lc-gtr-project/

Welded in the drivers side kick panel section on the weekend.

It looks messy as I gave it a decent amount of seam sealer

This is the outside of the kick panel section repair (again with a good coat of sealer)

I've been trying to find a cut of the section (circled in yellow) that attaches to the bottom of the guard but I've had no luck so I'll have to make this piece myself too
