Thanks Brett

Thanks for your comments Jamaican me happy :)
I liked the colours also, caught my attention as soon as I saw the car.
Made me overlook the little issues and missing parts
The bars are Mica Black and there is some green fleck in there also.

I think there is no question on the interior. Black interior will just tie in with all the Mica Black paint.

With the images and all the posts it’s all coming from my IPhone.
I just go into photos and edit the pick.
Basically just bring the borders in closer to the image I want to post.
They don’t all work though.
I got some picks of a coulple LJs I wanna post up but images still too big.
One blown 383
Other N2O 400

Ye I’ll keep the updates coming.
Hope to have a 9inch for it soon :)

Tailshaft loop slightly more modified and floor drilled.
Gotta pick up some bolts tomorrow, so I can bolt it to the floor.
4x3/8 each side of the floor with a steel plate on cabin side also.
8 bolts total sandwiching the floor.
Kept it <150mm from centerline if front uni.

Handbrake cables are now an issue.
Thinking if I make shorter rod/loop things and a longer adaptor for the adjuster it may still work still and clear the tailshaft loop.
Or is it possible to shorten handbrake cables?

Exhaust
Not sure if this is normal but just before the flange at collectors it turns in towards the gearbox mount/crossmember.
Seems like it needs to continue on straight till it passes gearbox cross member.

Shifter cable.
Seems a bit too close to exhaust for my liking.
Does ceramic coating actually make a Difference?
May need a different set of headers?

So got a 9’inch coming off LXChev on this forum. Pretty happy that I got a hold of one at a good price. Thanks Brett

Weekends just seem to go way to fast so I have planned a week off combined with an RDO weekend giving me 10days off to work on the LX.

Was Planning on getting the 9 inch fitted straight away but now thinking I may leave the banjo in till I get it on the road.
Slightly easier to get through DOT without mod plates, maybe.
Also new diff is HQ stud so will need to get wheels for the rear.
Then HQ rear and Torana front brakes will pi$$ me off, so will want hq brakes on the front.
Tailshaft will need to be modified or new one sourced as well.
So keep banjo in there till I get it on the road then go through front end conversion, diff install and tailshaft build.

This weekends plan is get started on rewiring the car.
It’s got one of those hotrod wiring looms off eBay that had been fitted a bit poorly. Ripping that out was one of the first things I did.
Have printed the torana wiring schematic in A3 and got the manual for the loom.
Never done a rewire on a car before so hope I don’t stuff it up and burn it to the ground.
My plan it to run all the wires one at a time to where it needs to go.
Loosely sit em in place.
Test all circuits, switches, Lights, starter etc
Then pull it all back out and wrap it all back up and reinstall.

Grab yourself some Velcro loops to hold the wiring in place temporarily, an absolute must have and so much easier than feeding wires through zip ties.

And dont wrap it in insulation tape.

That will make a huge mess.

Find the non stick stuff from somewhere.

Ye the loom I pulled out is all wrapped up with electrical tape.
Wires are all sticky so I gotta pull all the tape off and clean the wires first.

Was planning on taping it but using the proper cloth type wiring loom tape.
I have already bought 4 rolls and started using it on the steering column wiring loom.

Most of it should be wrapped in vinyl tape without the sticky stuff. From my memory anyway.

The ends were often finished off with a cloth tape with adhesive.

Perhaps an auto electrician could point you to where the vinyl stuff can be acquired.

Probably spent more time reading about and watching YouTube vids about auto wiring than actually working on the loom.
Got it divided up into 3 sections.
Engine bay including front end lights
Under dash.
Rear lights.

The Velcro tape worked a treat allows you to easily add another wire into the loom without spaghetti going everywhere.

Not 100% sure if the ignition connectors and column connector are mated to aftermarket loom correctly as it’s how I got it.
It’s a bit daunting looking at all this as I have never attempted anything more than a stereo or fuel pump install.
Just keep telling myself it’s just lots of small circuits and just gotta take my time.

Also had a pallet turn up today.
Very excited.
First impression was how big the rear drums are.

Ok so diff is in with new hand brake cables.
Gotta get a new tailshaft or get mine shortened and modified.

The rare spares brake hose clips do not work on the hand brake cables.
Possibly due to the chassis brackets for the handbrake cables are dimple died a bit.
The rare spares clips did work for the rear brake flex hose though.
Possibly a different clip but I thought they would be the same.

Need to find a set of HQ pattern wheels so I can get the rear back on the ground.
Anyone got some HQ steelies they wanna swap for early pattern Holden hotwires 13inch.
Also plan on selling the banjo. I’m told it is a fine spline 336 single spinner.
Will have to pull an axle to check it out.

Another bit of progress.
Got the manual shifter hole closed up by welding in a bit of plate.
Also welded up the old hole that was in the wrong spot for shifter cable.
Welded in some spacers to bolt the shifter to the tunnel not through the tunnel. Spent a lot of time procrastinating about it’s location and angle, dummy assembling the cover countless times to make sure it’s in the centerline of the trans tunnel.
The shifter sits off to the right of the case so wasn’t as simple as bolting the shifter in the centerline.

Saved one sheet of body deadener to cover this all up.

This is what I’m planning on running for center console/shifter
Not sure what this console is out of I believe it’s a Torana one.
There isn’t anything on the floor to mount the front of the center console.
Gunna have a bit of a google Of images to see what is there as a factory fitted front mount for the center console.

Haven’t really done much else lately. Been busy being a lazy prick mostly.
Too cold and too lazy after work, and before you guys say I’m soft and it’s queensland how cold can it be.
Some morning are around 2degrees so it does get cold.
Laying on my back on cold concrete isn’t really doing much for my motivation at present.
Looking forward to some warmer weather.

Still haven’t done wiring. Want to do the Qey front brake conversion so I can get it back on the ground and rolling.
Borrowed the engine hoist from work. So plan on pulling out engine painting the bay after that.
Get engine back in. While getting headers modified and getting competition coatings to ceramic coat.

Bloody handbrake and tailshaft loop with HQ rear dorms is giving me the shi+s.
Just not getting enough pull outa the cables to apply brakes.
I believe I got the shoes adjusted correctly as any more starts to bind.

So after months of nothing I got engine and gearbox out.
Got an Aeroflow hi volume sump to fit to it.

Found my pacemaker headers are cracked
So need to get another set of them.

Trying to work out what camshaft is in the engine
Not having much luck googling it.

Got a set of widened Steelies powder coated and got a 235 thrown on there.

So you saying you don’t like the condition of the hubcaps ?
Or don’t like the look of the car with the Steelies/hubcaps?

I like the way it looks.
Wanna get some chrome dress rims to see how it comes up with them on.

Ye thought about that also.
Difficult spot to get at. With the tri Y design.
Have seen guys oxy weld difficult areas.
But they are pretty pitted and dinted and cracked, lots of crap falling outa the inside of them.
Car has been sitting for 10years or so.

Plus I also wanna get em ceramic coated.
So really want a new set so they come up nice after coating.

For a really good clean look, make sure you buy the pipes uncoated. You can spend some time filing and tidying up the welds etc before getting them coated.
Worth the effort.

Have just emailed Pacemaker to see if I can order them uncoated.
Also asked about fitment with a turbo 400.
Website stated works with turbo 350
Doesn’t mention turbo 400
I have minimal/nil clearance to shifter cable.

Pacemaker still the off the shelf header of choice?
