Clean up of triples?

Hi all, when i bought my car the guy was good enough to include a set of 175 triple su's, rebuild kits and even a book on rebuilding them. Now that i have the car RWC and registered i am looking to get the 202 (spare motor) in and i want to run the triples. My question is what is the best way to clean them up before i do anything else? As you can see the carbs and manifold look pretty crappy. Research has me looking at everything from soda blasting to CLR to Coke (the drink kind ) I'm sure some of you guys have travelled this road before.

Yep water blasting/ hydro blasting is the go. Did up some Webers a while back, they cam \e up fabulously.

No didn't bother as going on to a race engine, extra weight and all that LOL

By the way, fyi they are not SU’s but Strombergs. Common mistake, but XU1’s had Strombergs. Is that a genuine Holden manifold too?

 Thanks for the correction, very new to the Torana world and learning all the time. Unsure as to the manifold, is there a way to check where the carbs and manifold started life?

This would be a good  starting point - remove the air cleaner assemblies and note any numbers stamped into the face of carbs where the backing plates mount.

Depending on the numbers present, you may get a few private messages through the forum asking if you want to sell them .

Ok - a matching set of early 72 LJ XU1  carbs on the genuine Holden manifold [ after market manifolds don't have the firing order on them].

Worth big bucks - I hate seeing people get ripped off .

Approx value in my opinion - $ 1,OOO , NO BULL.

I should also point out that I have my late 73 matching set and therefore have no interest in possibly buying these.

Yep, a lot of dough to be spent on them to be ready to bolt on.

949 TB should be the vac line carb. NO1.

949 TA - carbs 2 and 3 .
