I just wanted to thank everyone for their help.
For anyone else that comes along, this is what I did:
- hi-torque starter with short bolt on the outside. 70mm diam body.
- HQ mounts, modified as per the drawing. Only need to trim one side for clearance as shown in picture.
- Spacer plates as per drawing
- Folded down lip on k frame as per the drawings supplied.
- LC LJ V8 sump from Russel Oil Pans

I should say I had feedback that the spacer was 1/8” or 1/4” thick, but went with 1/4” in the end.
I reverse engineered the drawing, the original couldn’t be sourced.

For future reference I have my engine roughly where I think it will sit in the car now.
With the spacers fitted to the engine mounts the Top anchor points on the k-frame are parallel with the inlet manifold/carb/air cleaner.
Starter now has lots of clearance with the changes made.
Unfortunately the next clearance issue I’s the bracket on the belhousing for the cable clutch.......another thread for that one.

Latest update, had to remove engine mount spacers to get brake booster clearance.
Gearbox crissmember has spacers fitted to the outsides, but nothing under the Center mount

What booster and what rocker covers are you using?

I used to run the original six cylinder booster and I have Bocam aluminium covers which aren’t particularly tall. I still had about 15-20mm clearance which meant removing either the booster or rocker cover to get the engine out. Not a common event so no biggie.

After the booster died I put on a custom one from Hydroboost which has a lot more clearance. Dual diaphragm unit and with the added vacuum pump it stops on a dime now. Or it would if I took the skinnies off the front!

I have about 3 - 4mm clearance. In most of the pictures I’ve seen it looks very close with a XU1 booster even with std covers.
Even with the sump sitting on the crossmember I don’t think I could get 15-20mm.
I’m going to lift my booster 5 or 6mm so I don’t have to worry about it.
