My FJ has been sitting around for 30+ years and is now getting a rebuild. It had a UC rack and pinion mounted on the front of an L300 cross member. Like from what I see, the LH rack bush has given up the ghost. When I remooved the boot there were plenty of bits of rubbish in there and it looks like the outer step on the bush has collapsed and the remainder has been pulled into the rack tube. T will have to pull the thing down to get the rest of the bits out.
I assume the new Nolathane bush should push in from the LH end but I would have expected there should be something there to retain the bush or is it simply a tight pres fit. Got me intrigued.
Some info from anyone who has replace one of these would be appreciated.
Cheers
