Hi all,
I need some assistance to point me in the right direction with my wheel and tyre choice.
I have an LH with standard height new suspension and 205/60R15 tyres fitted to wheels with 11p offset.

My problem is the tyres just clip the front edge of the Mudguards and even before I have had the chance to register it I now need to do panel repairs as the drivers side folded up on me 🤬.

The mudguards have not been modified.

What I would like to know is have people done this combo successfully before or was a change needed? I need to do a wheel alignment still but not sure if that will make a difference or if I need new tyres or something else.

TIA

Leigh

What width are your rims and what is their backspace?

A wheel alignment *MAY* make a difference, depending on how much the tyre hits by, and how far out the alignment is at the moment, and how much caster / camber you dial in?

You may also gain a little by rolling the lip of the guard, and you might be able to fit a brace rod from the bumper mount down to the front corner of the guard too, just to hold it out a few mm further?

But otherwise... what Rexy said. Obviously the width and backspace of the rims is the main thing.

H guys,
The rims are 7” with P11 offset which equals 4.43 inch back space.

Looks like you need a smaller tyre.

That’s about as much backspace as you can usually get away with using a 15 inch rim.

Only one way to find out. See if someone has a used tyre you can try before committing to good ones.

I used to run 205/50/15 and there was only mm of clearance on lower front of guard, anything bigger would rub for sure. I ran 225/50 on the back, they used to be common sizes but looking recently there is hardly anything available  in 15 inch 50 series now

205/60R15 is monstrous.

Any reason for the 4WD tyres?

0 Offset 7" with a 23" rolling diameter 205's should fit comfortably under the standard guards. At least 1.5" lower than standard, with a degree of -ve camber and 2 degrees +ve of castor with the standard arms and all that shit should look good.

I have 205/60R15 on a 7" wheel and +12 offset and they fit fine with rolled guards and the firewall lip folded, however the UCs have more clearance on the front edge than LH/LXs, when I had a LX I trimmed the guard on the front edge where the guard curves under for clearance. With that I fit a 225/50R15 on a 7" wheel and +12 offset. So my suggestion is to cut the bodywork.

UC's are certainly better in that area. Holden rectified their stuff-up in that respect.
