Thanks Kevin, any chance you've got a pic of the whole back of the cluster?

Hi Garth,

Sorry I don't, I'll have to pull the cluster out to get a pic for you. Sounds look a good job for tomorrow!

Hi Garth,

Here's a pic of the rear of mine. It is a 6/77 build.

The black box wired into the fuel gauge circuit is a balast resistor ( I believe). The fuel gauge was faulty and the guy who fixed it, maybe 10 years ago, said the bits were NLA so this was the only option.

Works OK, maybe a more elegant solution is available now?

Hope this helps.

Cheers Bill

Strange? You can re wind the nichrome wire on the needles. That’s all that usually fails.

LX have a built in voltage regulator. An instrument repairer should be able to rewind it and get rid of that black box.

Oh yeah I just took a closer look. The entire mechanical voltage regulator is gone..... hahahaha. I use this no worries these days.

Great. I'll be getting my instruments checked soon so I'll try and get rid of that bulky regulator.

Thanks for the tips.
