Hi all , I've just had my master cylinder reconditioned, I purchased it as a disc brake set up , but noticed the brass flares on the inside , should these be removed? I'm not sure ,and if so why? Is it for better flow or something? thanks Paul.

No you must have those tapered brass seats in there. They are what the double flares on the brake pipes seal against.

You can see the ring marks where the tube flares have previously bedded into the soft brass to form a leak proof seal.

The brass olives are what the pipes seal on

Stick a paperclip down the holes

If there's resistance in the larger hole.(rear brakes) .. good... if its in the smaller hole... maybe not so good (there could be a disc valve in it though)

No, as Neil advised, gently push a paper clip into the hole in the seat. There should be a check valve in the rear port which will cause an obstruction to the paper clip.

When you push the paper clip into the front port seat there should be nothing in the way allowing the paper clip to slide right in without restriction until you possibly hit the cylinder piston cups.
