LC GTR Gearbox crossmember

Hi All

I have a LC GTR Torana 4 speed and I'm putting it back together and bolting up the rear gearbox member. The issue I'm having is it could bolt up in two places. I mean if I push it forward it will fit into one set of holes but if I pull it back it will fit into the back holes. There are several positions I can bolt the cross member to but which is the right one? If I use the back holes it looks like I would need a spacer between the cross member and the chassis. Any ideas?

If it is an LC and 1972 LJ gearbox crossmember do you have the spacers that go between the member and the chassis rails?

It an LC 1971 and after all this time I can't remember if there were spacers

Thanks Dave. I've got the spacers. Which are the correct holes to bolt the cross member into. There are seven. Some are obviously wrong   but I have  two bolt hole options.

 If I use the forward option that leaves the back two holes exposed.

If I use the back hole option it leaves only one bolt hole exposed

What I mean is if I use the front holes the engine is  closer to the radiator. Perhaps someone can tell me what is the distance of the fan from the radiator in a GTR manual. Cheers 

John, the position of the engine sitting correctly on it's mounts will dictate the position of the gearbox crossmember.

There is  a bit of a difference where the crossmember bolts up onto the chassis( a gap at the rear ) where the two channels coming together. should I put a washer there or just bolt it up on the angle.

Just bolt it up with the spacers between the rails and the crossmember. That is how they were built.
