I think today if you own a GENUINE xu-1, any GENUINE xu-1 you are miles ahead because 9 out of 10 are fakes...........

Wow fly-again-XU1 I just wonder what the accurate % of them are actually fakes. I remember the 1980's when I owned a 1973 GTR and everyone faked the GTR's to XU1 clones. It was the thing to do as they wern't worth keeping original. These days there's big $ in the fakes so people try real hard to disguise them. Whether it has the original paint colour is way down the bottom of the authenticity list if that's the case.

With the price people are asking for genuine GTRs these days, theres no need to make it up to look like a XU1..Some GTRs have the XU1 specs but without the obvious decal kit and spoiler. Like you said, even replicas are asking $$ as a S badge isnt cheap either.

Is it just me or have the good (not perfect) XU1's tipped over the 100k  asking price mark. The LC GTR's seem to have progressed into the 80k ?

I was looking at a couple between 130-145k thats how much there going for. Unrestored or bathurst edition go over the 145k mark. LC/LJ GTRS are starting from 80k to 110k ive found depending on condition.

Thats exactly right Gene. Not sure how accurate Australian Muscle cars 'sold' prices are. My cynicism tells me they are probably inflated to get more sellers. Can believe anything you read these days.
