Hi all, looking for some help
I am doing my first holden 6 rebuild and just following the instructions in my HR holden factory manual.
I have installed Crank, rods & pistons and camshaft and am now checking the cam runout and the cam gear runout. The book says acceptable cam runout is 0.003" and cam gear runout 0.004". I have checked mine with a dial indicator but my cam runout is 0.006 and the cam gear 0.011.
It is a new crow cams cam but with the old used cam gear pressed on.
Obviously the book says clearly what acceptable runout is and that mine is over but my question is: is this one of those things were the book says its a rule but its more like a guideline???
Is this worth taking the cam back out and re-pressing the gear back on (or possibly replacing it) or is this one of those technicality things but really it isn't going to make a difference. Its my first time doing this so looking for some guidance.
Cheers
