Hi Ian, I'd keep it to bare metal only. I personally don't like it as a final coat on anything I can see.

Hi Ian the photo looks very much like raw sandblasting to me- be interested what your blaster says.

Exactly what I was thinking Stuart.

Ian, before you get too excited with the paint brush.
There is some damage to the K frame that needs fixing.
The seat for the right hand caster rod bush appears to be buckled inwards.
I'm guessing the right hand front wheel has taken a pretty hard whack in years gone by.
Perhaps why your XU1 had a standard LCA fitted to the RH side?

Definitely looks un painted.
Again I will say DON'T KBS this stuff. It'll look shit and cause issues with fitting bushes and threads jambing.
I've been there and done that. Just etch it then 2K paint it.

Thanks Dave. How do I fix the seat. are they a two piece spot welded item?. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And yes that was the side that has the standard LCA , and it was bent.

Some better photos would help, Ian.
Worst case, you cut it out and weld a replacement in.
Best case, you manage to persuade it back into shape with a big threaded puller, or even a hammer and dolly.

As Heath said, some better pics of the damage. Some comparison pics of the left hand side would also be good.

Thanks mate. Yeah, so the locating ring thing is bent, and it has bent so much it has distorted the arm (the edge above it) so that has become out of shape, also.
If you get a nice big arse threaded bolt (as big as fits through the hole) and can install a nice big arse steel washer on either side of the plate (like 5+mm thick and hopefully as big a diameter as fits in the relief... easy if you have access to a lathe), and screw it all together. This will aid the washers being straightened, and then protect it (stop the spot welds from splitting) when you then belt the frOck out of the rest of the area to straighten it to where it should be. The big flat washer can also be used as the main surface that you hit, so that you don't dint and scratch the hell out of your crossmember while you're giving it a few hundred blows with a hammer, haha.

That's what mine did and you can't even tell it has been painted it dries so clear.
It's good shit and keeps it from rusting for ages.
I rang KBS technical department as my entire underside of the car was blasted and sprayed with it and they said just follow the 3 steps aqua kleen, rust blast then rust seal.
I sprayed my K frame in KBS and it came out well but if I was to do it again I would have used there top black coat over the top of the rust seal.
Good luck

How did you go with it all Ian?Thanks Mitch. I have done the aqua wash, and the rust blast to my blasted parts. Just waiting for a dry day to spray them with rust Seal. I also have some black top to do a final coat. Today is looking pretty good. It's just past 6:00am here. And we have another massive fog hanging around. Thanks for the info everyone.

I can't open the photo mate.I'm pretty ruff, and I had a $35 spray gun. But I'm happy with the way they came out. Thanks again Mitch. https://photos.app.g...pehVJdjqPxDFU9A
I'm sure you did a good job.
I should have mentioned I thinned down the rust seal a little bit so it sprayed nicer too
