Hey fellas,

When I rebuilt my Blue 308 pollution engine a decade ago, I installed an edelbrock performer manifold due to corrosion issues on the original manifold - problem is it's not going to allow me to comply with ADR27 rules because of the lack of EGR support for the upcoming blue slip.

The car is a 1980 WB caprice 308.

I have two spare manifolds, the original is completely unusable as the water jackets have completely corroded please see blue pic attached.

The second spare manifold looks to be off a red engine, as I can see orange paint on the front vacuum switch and I have noticed that rear vacuum tree is a little offset, and has less vacuum branches compared to original please see Red pic attached.

Does anyone know if I can run the red pic manifold on a blue 308 motor?

Appreciate any input!

Check the bolt locations near the EGR -  and the shape of the EGR,s     I don't think you can use a red manifold on a blue motor.

Sorry but no good for your blue heads. Check centre bolts to heads- two extras on blues and

slightly different locations mean they don't line up from what I remember.

Just run the gauntlet?

It will likely get passed as is.

It'll fit. I wouldn't bother with the centre bolts, just don't overtighten the others

dont think it will fit .The manifold will not cover the egr port on the heads .

flip it over and you should easily see why

Hi mate,

The guy doing the blue slip, said the car should be how it rolled off the showroom floor or I need to pay somewhere in the vicinity of $2000 to have the new manifold setup tested by an engineer to make sure it complies with emissions standards! Crazy.

I think I would rather pick up a standard manifold.

Agree, the EGR passage was relocated in the blue head castings and the two centre bolts straddle the passage.

Can the corrosion to the original manifold be welded up and machined to restore it?

Honestly I would be asking around for a more reasonable blue slip examiner.
Not many left with original everything.

In Gladysville somewhere I presume?

I'd fit a EGR delete and then the red mani, pass engineering then fix properly

The manifold in the link you posted needs some corrosion repairs to the thermostat housing boss.

The OP would be best to investigate getting his manifold repaired before buying another one in similar condition.

black (VK) intake manifold for sale in WA on Marketplace, 3 bolts on the exhaust crossover, $190, has EGR, no thermo housing on it, looks to be a bit of corrosion on the water jacket area, this is not mine and I do not know the seller, cheers
