Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can help with some pics of the pin position of an LH brake pedal v's the pin position of an LX brake pedal.

I've read through a couple of posts which state the measurement but they don't describe where the measurements are taken from, eg from the top of the pedal to the centre of the pin, or from the centre of the pedal bolt to the centre of the pin etc.

So, if someone had a few pics it would be really helpful because my LX brake pedal was from a 4 wheel drum car so assume the pin position is in the wrong place for a booster with an angled end, which is the booster I'll be using in my car.

If someone could help me identify the right pin position, that would be great.

Thank you,

George

Pin position? I didn’t think there was anything special about the brake pedals?

This is my set from my LH.

If all else fails assemble the pedal you have and the booster and see whether or not you need to change anything and if you do you will know exactly where to modify the pedal.

Do you already have a booster?

Lh and early LX different to late LX and UC. I can measure late LX to suit bent booster rod. That's what I use and it's out of car at the moment.

Actually, I just found the early LX straight rod one I swapped out many moons ago. It is 63mm centre of pin to centre of pivot bolt.

Looks like a bit of parralex error where the ruler is against the pivot to me

You can buy new pins on eBay and modify an early pedal. You may have to weld up original hole as the 2 holes would be pretty much touching if you drill the lower hole at 73mm. You may even be able to reuse the original pin if undamaged when removing and not worn.

Yep, I've thought about that but would prefer to buy a pedal if I can find one otherwise will do.

Cheers....

Sorry for a slightly off topic post here... but I guess these brake pedals generally have some kind of pin on them.

Does anyone have a photo of this?

Is it just a split pin?

I can't find one for my own car but if it's a split pin that's easy of course.

Hi Heath.  I don't know if mine is right but I just have a split pin with a washer behind it. Cheers Ron

^ Yes I believe it was an R clip.

The pin will push out easy enough, then just drill/weld a new hole, no need to buy anything

Cool.

Ahhh... do they need to have that return spring? I have not installed one of those, lol.

I think the return spring is there mainly to counteract the spring inside the brake light switch (IE. to make sure that the pedal depresses the switch when released).

You might find your brake lights flickering or just plain staying on without it.

It probably helps stop the pedal rattling when unloaded too!
