Hi,
This came with an assortment of bits.
Similar to LC/LJ , banjo centre.
Axles 10 spline, but about 20mm shorter than the above.
Torana PCD, but on a bigger diameter flange.
Any ideas what it is from?
Thanks in advance.
( sorry if it's obvious)

See above Torana PCD Bruce. Gemini were same banjo but narrower. Mate had one under his HR way back but not sure what pattern Gemini are.

hmm...googled Gemini diffs/ axles.. .
Some seem to have banjo type centres, and some have rear inspection plates?

Might be wrong but looks to me like a garden variety Holden banjo housing to suit leaf spring rear suspension that has been shortened, probably to fit wider wheels.

Gemini were never Banjo. The early ones had a small Borg Warner diff like an Escort & the later ones had a small Salisbury, early Commodore style.

Gemini were 100mm PCD 4-stud.

The ends of the axles look like they've been cut and re-finished to me, obviously the housing and bearing setup has been modified so probably nothing original about it?

Ok, thanks all.

Agree it looks to be shortened/re welded near bearing carriers.

Indeed, even though the axles are shorter, they almost touch in the middle when inserted all the way.

Also the brackets would seem to suit leaf type springs.

Seems to maybe be part of someone's project, but who knows.

I will keep the centre and bin the rest.

Thanks again.

Could they be HKTG flanges? Distance between spring saddles could be a clue to intended use.

Checked out my eh diff and axles here, diff centre area looks same except for drain plug yours has,
Measures 51.5" flange to flange. Spring mountings are well different, though.
Obviously nothing for upper trailing arm mounts either, nyuk nyuk
Axle flanges measure 5.5 " across with 3 holes in. Hope that is a help at least.
Tried to put pics up, but "file too big" today for some computing reason

Oh, forgot to say, the flares on the ends look the same, too

Ta mate

Mine is 46.6 inches flange to flange, assuming flange means the face the brake plates mount up to.
Axle flanges aporx 3.6" across, 4 holes.
Too me, this thing looks like someone has grafted Torana flanges & axles onto an "axle assembly", that also takes a Banjo centre?

Yes, thats the flange I meant. Outer surface.
The grinding marks in that picture either side
of the leaf saddle look like they match the wider one I have here.
Sorry, still can't get you a picture to show.
I might be wrong, could be Hr, it's been around since my
memory was good.
Got plans for it, or just curiosity?

So five inches narrower than EH HR? Give or take. I will swear that FE to HR are all exactly the same width drum to drum. I’ve compared FB, EK and EH for certain. I am running an LC housing in my FB ute and as I recall it is close enough to 80mm narrower, which confirms what Col said earlier about it being 20mm narrower each side than LC. I’m thinking this could be useful to someone that wants big dish under their early Holden without having to bottle jack flare the guards. None the less it is a Holden bango so not worth getting too excited over. Obviously no value to the restorer, being modified, but potentially useful none the less.
