Hello, I am currently painting a grill and headlight surrounds for an LC gtr and me and my work mate where wondering how this would have been done in the factory? It may be an obvious answer like just how I’m doing it but I’m going to ask anyway. I was thinking maybe hand painted or stamped, just a curious question, cheers

I have seen some original ones that look like they have overspray in the tight corners so I reckon they used a reusable stencil that dropped over the surrounds. On the other hand they might used a pad printing system which I have seen being used to print stuff onto rough surfaces like walnuts etc. at trade fairs if they were around in the 70's. I would rather use the drink scotch and do it slowly method! :D

Check the masked off bits in the blackout though of the return, too many bars marked out there if you are trying to achieve original

We thought it might be a stencil because no one would want to do that for hours every day haha, I was given a reference photo and copied what the owner wanted but l would like to know the exact way if there is a photo available? Cheers

Or squirt it on then wipe off what you don't want with a prepsol rag while it's wet?

Nice video 71xu1 I noticed u pushing the corners down while painted haha it’s a pain in the arse. Thanks for the replies and info, I wish I given the original lines to do it would have been a few less lines to do, thanks for the new knowledge. Cheers
