any of the small VN on type starters will fit digger...off memory I trimmed about 1/4" off the rolled lip on the lower control arm just to be sure but the engine torques/twists the other way under acceleration so it wasnt a drama.

VS V8 starter on mine as well now. Starts just the same as when it had a super duper high torque thing in it that cost alot of money. No trimming to anything round mine.

got the starter today. didnt realy take note of it when i picked it up. but when i got home i noticed its a big mother. about 3inch diameter. no way it is going to fit in! it is a bosch unit but bloody huge.

guess ill have to get a brand new unit so i know it right

bit of an update. ive been slack finishing my torana off. but i toook the start out today and went to put the new one in. looks like it will fit fine however i can only get one bolt in as the other bolt (closes to the wheel) is right ontop of the control arm. the only way i can see fixing this is the cut the startmotor mounting bit down

I trimmed my vn vs starter and put a allen head bolt in , without moding the out rigger
i had to cut the outrigger last time the 253 was in due to old type starter, i didnt want to remove any more metal
