They actually look good with a sun roof i reckon, each to his own taste. If I had to choose a colour for a G-Pak yellow would be the one.

haha just keep on waiting, he'll come for you.

I don't mind the look of it with a sunroof, especially since the GPak was like the 'option' model. Looks a bit retro with the sunroof. I'd have to agree with you that I'd go with Absinth Yellow as well, surfmaster.

I used to see the g-paks all the time as most of them were cheap first cars for my cousins but there was a done up one in my area with MRGPAK plates on it.

Hey, is there any way of telling if a car is a G-Pak, like the VIN prefix or something like that that can't be taken off the car?

Peace,

I've got those ads on the PC Troy, from the newsletter prep. How do I put them up?

Also the ad promo says they all have radials...

My Torrie is a red G-Pak that Dad bought brand new back in 1976 (it was the last of the demo run-outs when the LX came out), but it was actually made in 1975, of course.

Don't see too many around anymore, perhaps one or two a year over here in Brissie.

Mine is still in pretty damn good condition for it's age, always been garaged, still has original 202 and M20, although I've had both of them rebuilt. Finally did a clutch at 180,000km, and that was after a fair bit of towing and work over it's lifetime.

I've added things like air-con, alarm, etc, but nothing that can't cosmetically be reversed. Paint looks good from a distance, but up close you can tell it's a 30 year old paint job.

I've always wondered just how I would get the blue G-Pak logo and striping back on when I restored it. Is it just a case of getting a really good spraypainter to take photos and masks off it first? Surely there are no templates left anymore...

Cheers,
Jason.

My LH is supposed to be a G-Pak originally and I was wondering if there was any way of being able to tell. The 202 and paint etc. are long gone so was looking for something like VIN prefix's or something but obviously no one has been able to come up with that sort of info.

I can still see under the car that the original colour was yellow and also in another little quirk, Leigh Rainbird of the already pictured BBBAD fame was the guy who put together the engine and driveline combo and did some of the spanner work on my car.

Cheers,

Liam.

Liam,

I can post my VIN prefixes and codes if someone here can confirm that there would have been some sort of pattern. Might be a waste of time if they just pulled 'S' Torana's off the line and added the options... might have been random bodies, etc.

Jason.

Ozjason, by all means post or PM the numbers. I would be interested to know if there was any distinction made. Also have a close look after the words 4 door sedan on the safety compliance plate.

I'd honestly say the SL/R Resembles the GTR more than the G-Pak does, what made you say that though? I may have overlooked a characteristic of both cars.

Nice work! I was about to scan a smaller copy of the add but not as complete as the one shown. The LH G Pak wasnt released until about Feb 1975 so a fairly limited run. Just putting some info together on the Plus 4 released Sept 1975. A very rare car in todays market. Still trying to track down a colour shot.

Colour shot of the Plus 4 in Spotlight on LH LX Torana - Red with blue stripes.

Just thinking, we need an old Torrie ad section on the forum, with the view of eventually getting all the Torrie magazine ads up here. I've got a few for the LH.

Damn, it's only a black and white shot. There is also an article on the Plus Four from one of the mags of the time on the Plus 4.
