After selling the purple beast it has been a sad time with no torry. Those days are now over with the purchase of the "Red Rocket"
Its a 74 LH 173 trimatic, going for a sleeper on this one so the styling is going to be very different to my last one, for now anyway.
Just put in the venetians today and as you can see from the pics plan to lower and put on some whitewalls to make it look super GRANDPA! :spoton:
Plans are for a tuff street engine( maybe 355) 9' etc.... but keep it all in the sleeper theme.
Here are a few pics and some photoshop mods.

Good thing the bug stayed with you. Is it registered atm? Or will it be off the road until you get all the big mods done?

No rego yet soon heath, a few weeks maybe?
Glad you guys like it so far! :spoton:

Yeah mate, good stuff. I agree with the sleeper idea, it is way cool. Only problem with a hot 308/355 is the noise, ppl will know you're packing heat, perhaps a turbo project?

Keep it up anyway, good to still have you around.

Actually a friend was telling me that turbos are actually good for lowering exhaust noise

He said that something to do with the vibrations that they produce (or something) cancel out some of the exhaust waves... or something like that, so I dunno if that just works at certain rev ranges or on some turbo setups etc, I really don't know, but he reckons that's the reason a lot of turbo cars don't have much in the way of mufflers - just a relatively unrestrictive one and a hotdog or two.

To cut a long story short, Luke... turbo V8? :spoton:

ON THE ROAD!!!!!
Just got my rego today BBBBBOOOOOOOO YYYYYAAAAAAAAA!!!! The guy in the pits took a 2sec look at it and sent me on my way, easy as.
Ok venetians are now white, volvo wheels test fitted but she sits to high to pull them off yet. Just wanted to see what my self made whitewalls with paint from painting the house looked like
don't know what i think of theme yet.........Prob better when i can get some old chevy or something old skool 15' hub caps for her.
So just gotta dump her whack on lots of individual ratrod bits and enjoy having a torry on the road again for a while, then the fun can begin! Did i hear v8? :D

Ugh... I saw you driving it in early-mid November (I think), up Station St, past Shannon St... were you running it on a permit for a while?

Love the white venetians. May I suggest you put the hubcaps back on and look at the V8 option. Keep up the good work.

Mick.

Yeah i think the volvo whitewalls need some hubcaps too! Old school 15" hubcaps are hard to come by, they are all 14's!!!! :furious:
In the process of dumping her at least 30mm now
Sun visor.........SO TEMPTING ahhahhhhahahahh good idea Knoath.

Fair enough. Try and track down some baby mooncap things for the 15"s. Hot rodding shops maybe?

If you swap to Chev pattern, I'm sure you won't have any trouble at all finding some suitable wheels with appropriate caps. And I'll be happy to take the Volvo 'ceptors off your hands. :P

Ok time for an update. Just dumped her to the weeds, now i recon the whitwalls look much better and its starting to really get the ratty look i am going for :D Maybe not so much a sleeper anymore!!!
With the 13 it was really low, but now with the 15's i recon its just right. The front should maybe go down a little more as the springs settle??? Anyway when the v8 goes in soon it shall drop the front a bit more anyway
Ride is no where near as harsh as i thought it would be, Might go a 70 series tyre on the rear to lift it a little more (and provide a little more comfort) but still fill out the guards.
Oh painted the grill black too to match the head lights better. Got a sunvisor on the way Knoath hahahahaha we will see how it looks and if its ok i'll fit it!!
Was funny not being about to get the jack under the car to change the wheels when i got home :tease:
Here are some pics
