Looking for pics of that Repco modified hatchback.

Had squared off flares, 300mm hacked off the back etc.

Can anyone remember what it was called? Was built to show
off Repco spares and engineering prowess.

Cheers, leakey

Interesting Rory! Not the one I remember though?

I would appreciate that Graham. This was a real show car.
Went to all the motor shows etc. Had some magazine exposure too.
I reckon it was the last of the LX's.

I really recall the squared off flared guards, and the 300mm chopped
off the rear.

You're a legend Graham!

It was the Mystere I was thinking of.

- and yes, the ol' memory [read beer intake] confused the Repco with Recaro.

Now a bigger question... do any in-the-flesh examples still exist?
Wonder if Birdwood has one?

Cheers, leakey

Sorry Leaky, Birdwood has some interesting Toranas, inlcuding an A9X hatch with 1300 km on the clock, but no Mystere.

Oh wicked Matt, thats an awesome find!

Hmm are they the ones they mounted in the statesman chrome bumpers?
in the earlier models?

I think the mystere and taipan were a bit of an overkill if they were
meant to be a fix up of the UC torry!!! Is that what you were implying LOL!

Cheers, Leakey

Without the spoiler and the shortened rear end, it would be so much more tasteful. It's still awesome though. Good find!

There's gotta be more shots like this out there. Love to see them.

And not an arse chopped in the process. There you go Heath. Still think it would look better! :spoton:

Good spot Rob. I have the actual magazine that is from. Good read. Interesting cars above eh? There were a tonne of styling exercises done for all our most loved models. Some in house, some done by outside teams.

I've seen some slightly different Monaro coupes as well. Mainly striping and black outs. But they look very different as a result.
