Hi,
Just wondering if anyone can tell me if there are different types in the LJ series,as I have large style buckles in my 9/72 LJ XU-1 and I just bought a 4dr Lj mid 73 which has small style buckles in it do they change from year to year or has someone changed the ones in this car.

Regards,
George.

depending on whether your car was built in Adelaide Or Brisane will determine which belts you should have. 73 cars have the small belts.

Thanks mate,
My car is an adelaide built car,So does that mean 72 model adelaide cars have big buckles & brisbane cars have small buckles & all 73 have small buckles.

I was told the 73 on Brisbane cars were the ones with the small buckles, and all Adelaide one have the big buckles.

Both my 73 Brisbane built cars have the small buckles.

did you know that the adelaide cars have the small buckles but in the back seat of a 73 xu1 car the buckle in the centre is a big buckle this is what i believe as standard run for these cars built in adelaide.

My 8/73 XU-1 Brisbane built car has the original belts/buckles fitted are also of the large type.

Does anyone know who can re colour belts?? my are chesnut in colour and are naturally starting to show signs of wear. Buckles are fine it's just the belts.

Hmm seems to be some different belts going on here.

My 5/73 LJ SL (BLJ23XXXX) had the small buckles definately in the back from factory, but the fronts someone had stuck roll seatbelts in.

My 9/73 LJ S (BLJ30XXXX) was stripped but the seatbelts i found in the boot were all the small buckle type.

Both cars have brown belts.

Maybe it depended on the colour of belt fitted and the interior?

Steve

the numbers that you have quoted are not tellin me if you car is brisbane or adelaide

the BLJ does not mean its a brisbane car (it means its a 73 model)
the ALJ is for a 72 car

its the last letter that tells you the factory etc
BLJ123456B = brisbane 73
ALJ123456B= brisbane 72

BLJ123456A= adeliade 73
ALJ123456A= adelaide 72

Do you still have 2 brisbane cars with small buckles?

All lj Brisbane cars are big buckles, Adelaide cars went to small buckle around the time of the orange indicators. Gary.

Adelaide (73 cars atleast) have a big buckle for the rear middle seatbelt, the rest are small ones.

My  Adelaide  built  1970  low  mile  LC  XU-1  has  had  Brisbane  type  buckles  from  new.

Perhaps  Adelaide  ran  out  and  had  to  use  different  ones  until  more  stock  came  in  ?

Can  any  body  elaborate  on  this  ?

Regards  LC870
