My brother never welded the rust for me.
In the middle of finding a replacement panelbeater (hopefully from here).
Front seats i had for it were rooted so chasing another set of VY/VZ SS/HSV front seats as they are the more viable option then gettin the stock ones refurbed.
At this stage the RB gear will NOT be going in, i'm going to go down the LS1 route now. The HDT 202 is back in it though for summer cruising duties this year.
Warning for people wanting to go RB, either stay single cam RB30 or if using a 25/26 DO NOT use the RB30 bottom end otherwise you will hit the height issues that i have battled for so long and poured ALOT of money into.
I'm not really fussed by it dragging on like this, car owes me next to frOckall and i got other cars to cruise and play with

Was built at West Racing here in W.A by "Tim Slako"
LS1 from a VZ with 47,000k's
Performance Wholesale aftermarket heads (never heard of them?)
Been locally CNC ported
Yella Terra roller rockers
Valve Springs
Pushrods
Custom cam in the 260+ region
Made 480rwhp with a manual behind it, i'm currently chasing a TH400 auto though

I also have to factor in, i didn't get the computer with it so i need to rely on decent tuning.
Theres "rebuilt with 1 year warranty" TH350 gearboxes here in Perth for $1650 fully manualised... sound dodgy?
Extra $700 and get a converter...
Yeah definately won't finish it, unlike Josh i'll be honest and say i'm down to 9k after buying the engine.

Bit the bullet and bought an over engineered one
Rated to 800hp but they said its actually 1000hp rated they just dont make that claim
Same combo has just been made for a personal car of Eddie Tassone so i'm happy
Anyway its a full manual TH400, will be ready for pickup in 2 weeks
Now to work out what converter i need to order from Dominator, might throw a call into Allfast first though just incase

send them in and any good auto shop will match one up for you
kalamanda performance will make you a loom up from scratch when you need one
you should have got the computer
would have made life a lot easier

Managed to get the 202 running after not being started for 2+ years
Was worrying when there was no dash lights and mouse poo near the booster etc... ran through the starter/dizzy etc wiggling everything. Got dash lights and got it running...
Was only running on 4 or 5 cylinders so i pulled the plugs out to find them all fouled... cleaned the plugs up and managed 6 on and of... put it down to crappy old 350 holley.
Anyway as i began the journey to its new home for the next few months i popped a little 2 legger in the driveway for the neice and nephew watching from the verandah!
Got it to its new home, give it a squirt off... reversed into shed.
Then bonnet off and bonnet brackets to find no rust behind the brackets which is majorly awesome!
Same with the battery tray.
Damaged LHS doors off to be replaced... took pictures of the cars only rust in the LHS wheel arch. Dash pad off to be sent away for re surfacing.
Rocker cover off the LS1 to find some YT 1.7 rockers... good or bad i do not have a clue!

Besides that fact, i'm up around 11k now but all the expensive things are payed for
Without Andy (ls2lxhatch) though i'd have made alot of stupid/expensive mistakes
small run down for now:
engine - 3500
box - 2850
ecu/loom - 200
sump/pickup/starter - 700
brakes - 1490
diff - 250
diff brackets - 160
diff mods - 550
headers - 1500
engine mounts - 485
tranny dipstick and dust cover - 80
flexplate/bolts/tranny cooler - 600
obviously i need more:
radiator/fans/shroud - 1200
converter - 950
fuel system - 1200
tailshaft - 500
springs/shocks - 600
trans cross member/mounts - 400
Obviously i'm not doing a baremetal respray, so yeah with that 25k would be easily spent
I could have also saved money by buying a wreck instead of a modified engine without accessories and brand new gearbox
How far did your 30k get you?

i still wouldnt mind putting an LS2 in my torana but from what i have seen and heard from andy LS2LXhatch its quiet difficult, but i may do the conversion into another car one day
