I have to admit, cruising in convoy to the Island for the historics is a banger of an idea, thanks for the great suggestion to fly! It's the kind of event I usually say "Yeah would be cool", but never get around to going.... so this could be a great excuse to do something different.

Definitely worth considering I reckon! What does everyone else think?

I would be up for either option....

Interesting idea to fly but it does raise a few issues,
1/. SECURE PARKING, not that keen to park and leave car in a car park where can't keep an eye on it.

2/. What time historics start & finish (long day??)

3/. Chances of us getting hassled by YOU KNOW WHO in regard to roadworthyness, i've seen events like this targeted by them in the past, don't know if it's still the case!

don't get me wrong it's not a bad idea but like i said it does raise a few issues!!!!
Interested to know what others think???

What about a cruise to Phillip Island for the historics ? If you havent been to this event, you dont know what your missing. I know its a long cruise but it is a fantastic destination. We could meet at Cranbourne Bunnings carpark for the 50 min cruise. BBQ lunch at the races, imagine walking the pits and chatting with all the Torry racers, and there is plenty of them, from the XU1s ,L34s and A9Xs,they would have the biggest cheer squad going, seriously consider this proposal peoples, this is the ultimate muscle car race meet. I have to go or I couldnt forgive myself, if some cant make the cruise early we could meet up at the meeting, have a think about it, it would in my opinion be the ultimate Torana Big Day Out !!!

Exactly what my post was meant to mean. You could park somewhere near the back straight and display the cars, I'll be there with the BCOAA,& my Brocky.

I'll be down there Saturday as I have accomodation, but the BCOAA are cruising down there Sunday morning with meeting points, just imagine Torries and Brocky's cruising down there, what a site!

I reckon this would be the bee's knees!!!!

What a site indeed!

Phillip Island Thread

I'm convinced... I reckon we should give this some serious thought!
It'd definately be a worthwhile cruise!

Any more takers? :spoton:

I understand your concerns lx5000 and we all have security worries with our cars. The carpark is chockers full of all make muscle cars, hot rods, vintage cars and exotic sports. I have my pockets full of various bits Ive hauled off the SS, battery isolator, steering lock and pray that no vermin want my car. There are car clubs everywhere in the carpark with static displays, perhaps we could park in such a way as to box in a few of the more concerned forumers. Our cruise the other year ended at a pub where we all enjoyed lunch with our cars out of view for the time we spent at the pub, so it is a hard one to answer.Anyone got any ideas, I must add that we have attended this meet for several years in our various muscle cars ,my mate had a HK 327 Bathurst Monaro parked with me,and we havent had any drama. Its really up to each of us to assess the risk and weigh up the decision, or I vote we pay Heath to mind our cars while we are away, lol

I won't be driving down, ovbiously,

THE HISTORICS ARE F*CKIN AWESOME... You must see it, and I have been hanging to go back, some of the owners are really nice, one dude even spent a hour or 2 talking to me about his A9X and was awesome about it.

It's a must! I'll be going down in a VE SV6 most likely with dad.

Either Sat 10th or Sun 11th , as long as we go!!! what suits ?. Sat you get a great day and is generally quieter, as in crowd, getting in and out, walking the pits etc.Sunday is a big day, last year it was very popular. We had a bit of trouble getting out, as we stayed till the end. There was a swimming carnival on at Cowes, all the daytrippers and tourists plus the historics meant a slow trip off the Island itself. Once we got to the Anderson round a bout it was no problem after that. Ive got mates cruisin down Sat who dont like the crowds on Sun so I dont mind when we go. I wish we could get a program before hand so we could check out what time the 1st Torries hit the track, (anyone know?), we arrived about 10am last year and drove straight in on the Sun. We left about 30 min after the last race and hit traffic, so I dont recommend staying too late on the Sun, Sat no problems, Sun heavy traffic, over to you, any ideas?

As it's a long weekend, what's the rush to get out?
Wait till the traffic thins then hit the road!

I like the idea of Sunday, if the traffic's the only downside.... :spoton:
