took a pickie of the other speaker hole repaired, it is now also seam sealed like the other one..............

Posted Image

then attacked the rear panel where it once had a trailer plug screwed to it.

before....................

Posted Image

and after welding the holes and pulling the dent out.....................

Posted Image

then moved on to the drivers sill area that had a bow in it and was obviously bogged up, took to it with the sander and this is what I found...........

Posted Image
Posted Image

so out with the nail welder and puller once more :D ....................

Posted Image
Posted Image

clean those off..............

Posted Image

and add a few more to pull the line back out to where it should be.............
Posted Image

piece off cake :spoton:

I'll be doing a little bit more to the sill before it gets a skim of filler ;)

time for the flutes..........................

Posted Image

stuck the camera inside the hole to see whast it was like inside the guard, it was nicely lined in the bottom with a layer of leaves and dirt  , cleaned all that out and this is what was left, the pic make it look worse than it really was  , it was only minor surface rust which came up clean with a rub with the wire brush, the surface was then "treated" and given a coat of body deadener

Posted Image

then line up the flute panel and tack it in and re-check the positioning of the flutes :spoton:

Posted Image

it is now fully welded in (as is the other side), I'll take a couple of pics of that tonight , once the new batteries for the camera get here

r/h flute welded in, still to strip the rest of the paint off the guard
Posted Image

passenger guard has a couple of things I had to do before fitting its flute  , seems the trim holes along the passenger guard where not welded up, they had been tapped down and filled over with bog :furious: , out with the grinder again and weld up the holes and shrink the panel back out into shape...........

I've got a 4cyl battery tray coming soon

Is that a hint for me?
Ok, I better go pick up my LC 2door body and give you the battery tray before I take to the front with the axe.

I bought another 4 speed of E-Bay (just a common garden variety M20), I should have enough parts to build a good one - with a reco kit of course - to put behind the motor.

Really starting to take shape keep up the quality work. Wish the inside of my guards looked like that lol, I pulled a WHOLE lot of dirt & leaves out of mine last week. What idiot at Holden thought a single piece front clip was a 'good' idea :spoton:

well the car should have been in undercoat by now  but a couple of moist days have slowed things up a tad

still need to put filler on the rear beaver repair but it wont need much now its cleaned up now and has had the pull nail removed...................

Posted Image

also found an old repair near the left hand tail light that wasn't right and had too much filler in it anyway
Posted Image
so I took to it with the sander, then a hammer and dolly :D
Posted Image

this is the pic of the rust repair that was needed in the rear window frame
Posted Image

its getting there :D

here's a before shot of the tail light panel  if you look closely it was bowed where it meets the bootlid ,just above the tail light opening(not the dented lip), it looked like shit with the boot lid on as the gap was all over the place and the tail light panel was tucked under the boot where it was bowed

Posted Image

took a pic of the rust hole before I repaired it but its blurrier than the after shot  :D

Looks like I had better start work on getting the HG out of the shed to make a spot for the project.

well the plan was to have the car fully rubbed down and undercoated by now
had a minor hiccup that I wont go into that cost a few hours to fix
and now mother nature has stepped in and turned on the water works so it will have to wait a day or two until it dries off a bit around here :D

been playing in the boot instead :spoton:

here's a couple of pics of the "home made" bathurst tank that the car already had in it when I got it

Posted Image
Posted Image

so what colour should I paint the tank?

black,
matt silver,
or just do it the same as the rest of the boot area (warrigul black) which there are traces of in the pics around the boot space as you can see.
