boys and girls..

just wondering if anyone is running an impco 425 setup on their v8 in a lx torana.

The reason i ask, is my current setup is out of the bonnet and in the scoop.. Anywho, i plan on getting a bonnet without a scoop and using that and was just wondering how people have overcome the clearance issues.

this is the carb, i was just wondering.. can i grind off the top bit off (down the the yellow bit in the pic)?

also, is anyone running a TWIN Gas research setup? Does this have any standard bonnet clearance issues.

Cheers.

308 and redline manifold.
Holley 600 vac secondary base plate
no adaptors,
CLEARS bonnet, no scoop needed.
I was using a redline 6" aircleaner.
If i have to, i will take pics, but engine is sitting on the concrete at the moment, due to go back in by this Wed latest.

NO. The diaphragm moves up and down in that window. You could maybe get away with grinding 2 mm off the top, if that.

What manifold and adapters/spacers are you using ?

Nice use of the ultrablue !!!!

If you want to lower it remove the adapter and fit the 425 to a Qjet or Holley spreadbore base. This will bolt straight onto the manifold.

Have a look at this Impco gas setup Its my old Impco setup.
To mount a spreadbore baseplate to any 4 barrel impco carb, you need a adaptor between the baseplate and the carby. Like in that pic. ^^ So it kind of defeats the purpose. It needs it to clear the massive secondary butterflies and to correct the bolt pattern.
I removed the adaptor and the baseplate and fitted a holley square bore base plate to that setup.
It has the same bolt pattern as a impco 425.
Sorry, i dont have any other pics of the impco to spreadbore adaptor plate, i sold it long time ago.

Did you look at mounting a 90deg elbow from the carbi to have the gas carbi lay flat, rather than staight up.
I have one on an LS1, sits between the tb and maf.

TB = trottle body
MAF = mass airflow sensor
I have seen impco 425s on vn-vt 5ltrs mounted between the tb and airbox also.

Sorry, I also have a 225 on a V8 VN between the TB and air box.

maybe shove some injector heads, manifold etc, VN air box.
lot more work, but would look way better, go better.
maybe just run it straight gas till you get the fuel sorted.

just ideas.

Hi, this is my GRA twin setup on my LH with 308 and performer manifold.
The setup is a complete under bonnet with no clearance issues, i reckon i could get a 50mm spacer under the throttle body aswell, there is more pics inside.

System is about 8 months old now.

GRA TWINS

Cheers
