i dont think i'd ever put a welded ford crank into my motor, but suppose if you didnt want to make a lot of power it would be ok.

They have been doing them for over 15 years that I know off...I still haven't seen one let go.

They do warrant the weld.

I had one I got from prostroke back in the mid 90’s for a speedway car. Had heaps of torque, but running on methanol. Found if you reved it to hard it ate main bearings, would be happy at 6000 to 6500 max. Anything close to 7000 expect bearing damage. Eventually went back to a blue 202 crank and different engine.

My old boss used to swear by the 235 and a 12port head.
Said he used to run high 12s at surfers drags Back in the day.
LJ with a 4 speed.
Always said it didn’t want to rev just made heaps of torque.

The 221 stroker crank Holden 6 has been around for over 40 years.

I purchased a Holden 6 back in the mid 80s that was out of an NA rail that used to run at Castlereagh drag in the mid-70s. It was run by the Moore brothers, it had heaps of torque but wasn't happy at consistent high revs. This probably could have been sorted with modern balancing techniques, but it was still a great drive in a street car.

There is no problem with properly modified or properly welded cranks, it's all down to how well the work was done.

I like the idea of stroker 6s in the right application. If you are planning on revving quite a bit and quite frequently, I dare say the shorter rod ratio from the stroker wouldn't help harmonics, hence if you can fit the longest rod you can and run custom pistons, so the rod ratio is closer to a stock 202, it'd be ok..

In short, build it right and it will be ok.. but a basic stroker crank in a holden 6 making big hp and high rpm worries me as to the effect of harmonics. Maybe in an suto and high stall itd be ok but in a manual I dare say you will be having trouble holding flywheels on as well as other inherent signs of harmonics.
