People say that but I used them heaps of times and never had an issue. It's what I used on my LX hatchback years ago. HK to WB stubs, the alloy part of UC PBR caliper with UC slides and bolts (including the allen headed front ones), HX pad mounts, UC upper arms and UC steering arms. It also had an A9X rear axle including the discs. HK-HG booster with LX rear rod. Brakes were stunning for factory brakes. They were easy to rebuild. The biggest problem I ever found with them (80's and 90's) was finding them off a car that had been maintained properly. Often they were all corroded and sometimes the bleed nipple wouldn't seal properly. Once you had good ones, rebuilt them with new kits and used the right grease on the slides with silicone brake fluid and they remained hassle free.

There's another version where the caliper mounting area doesn't go all the way between the two bolts, and not all calipers will bolt onto those without clearance mods.

I haven't personally seen that issue on any of the HQ-WB stubs that I have.

I think I have all bar the very early HQ stubs 2809 480 and 2809 481 so could be them.

At some point through HQ production they split into 2 variations 2820 996 and 2820 997 for pax cars and 9932 964/9932 965 for the Tonners, Yel do you know when this was?

Some of my LX and some of my UC stubs, do have the issue you describe 76Hatch. And even different batches of same part number can either have it or not.

Pics are both UC stubs (part number ending in 163) where one has clearly been machined all the way but the other not, so some calipers certainly wont fit the latter, as you say. I found this out the hard way when first fitting my Hoppers stoppers AU calipers, near 20 years ago.

HQ stubs are just carried over from HK. So you’ll find them back into late 1967. Cab-chassis didn’t appear until about November 1971.

Hmmm, I thought I'd come across the same thing on the full sized cars but maybe I'm mixing them up with the Torana ones.
