champion!

thats exactly what i was after and the quality is right on the money.

what book did that come from? the quality is a million times better than my manual, it looks like the diagrams in my factory VK workshop manual.

my last question regarding the engine harness; as the wire colours are hard to make out until I print it on the colour printer tomorrow.

is the heavy purple wire the trigger for the starter solenoid?
is the heavy red wire a 12V source into the cabin? from the battery or the heavy wire on the starter post?

I'm grafting a holden electronic dizzy into it and I dont want to molest the factory wiring loom as its virgin, I have another torana engine harness out of a donor car and was going to use the yellow coil wire to trigger a relay to give the coil on the electronic ignition a full 12V? will the voltage coming from the yellow trigger wire (via that pink resistance wire when the car fires) be enough to keep that relay armed once the key returns from cranking to the run position?

Glad it was ok, wasnt sure if it was going to completely cover an SLR or not :)

I found that diagram on the net some time back so I cant help with what book it came from. I figured it was worth keeping though :)

No help with wiring colours either sorry. Good luck!

Cheers

Cane-it..
Just had a look at my starter for you (on my 308).
You have your main cable coming from your battery to the large threaded stud on your starter motor.Piggybacked on top of that should be the thick RED wire ,which is the main Supply into your cabin. And then the Thick purple wire is the trigger to the starter as you have suggested. The red wire should have a Lug on it and the purple should have a female spade connection to slide onto the starter motor TAB (I suppose thats what I would call it).Hope this helps

cheers mate, you confirmed everything I suspected, I've already soldered up the lug and all the wiring, so she'll be good to go if I need to drop the motor in in a hurry.

Enough of this emailing crap already, if it was simply attached to this thread then any one of a hundred people would be able to help you... why is a wiring diagram such a secret?

I have a full colour LH diagram here in PDF format, and I have a black & white scan of the LX diagram, which says "to be used in conjunction with LH diagrams", and I've got a black & white copy of the UC diagram "for all models", but I'm sure they all came from this forum anyway so maybe do a Google search?

I scanned a nice High Def copy of the LH wiring diagram from the GMH Service Manual. If I upload it to photobucket or something, I think it automatically resizes it so its not as clear as the original. If I host the PDF to a website, that usually expires after a period of time.

Same way you attach photos... click on the blue "More Reply Options" button below the text box, once the new window opens, click below "Attach Files" on the "Choose Files..." button.

You can either leave them as attachments like I did above, or you can place the cursor where you want the attachment within your text and click "Add to post" to insert it.

EDIT: I forgot to say, maximum size of attachments in any one post is 1000Kb

I meant to say, scan it, save it as a jpeg and photobucket it or use some other method to jpeg it so we can all view it online easily.

;)

The circuit diagram that was getting passed around in the original few posts, was it actually an LX wiring diagram? Or was it the LH one? Ive still not come across a decent LX wiring diagram that incorporates the few minor changes of the LX harness compared with LH.
