l am having a lot of trouble sourcing a pair of tyres in this size. l am looking for these for a Giocattolo but this would also be a common size for Toranas running fat rubber.

Does anybody know who in Australia may still ahve some stock? l understand Yokohama occasionally do a run of these but they are sold out with no plans to do more for a while.

Cheers Mondie

Have you tried this guy yet?
This is from a thread he had a while ago. Link
Doesn't mention the 285/40 X15 but he used to have them in Yokohama.

hi guys i have been speaking to a few people at michelin re 255/45x15 mxw tyres.
they can still make them they are prepared to do whats called a indent order which means if i place an order for tyres prepaid they will make them and ship them to me this could take as long as 3-4 months but it will happen.
now if your interested you can ring me at work on 03 9764 2811 or mobile 0423 075703
in case you didnt know i work for traction tyres and suspension in melbourne we are the yokohama motorsport dealer for vic/tas i can ship tyres anywhere, we have been in business 28 years so its not like we are some fly by night business. if your interested give me a call or email me at [email protected]
cheers tony

Pirrelli have not made these tyres for around 15 years, and the batch of Yokkies was the first batch to come into Aus for over 10 years. I did a lo of searching for these in the States and had no luck which surprised me as they were the front tyres on DeTomaso Panteras which have a big following in the States. I bought my sets of tyres through a forum member when they first came out and a second set through scalpa. I know both these guys have none left.

What are they asking for it Rory and whats the condition? I have 2 new P7's I got from the States, but due to their age I replaced them with Yokis. They are new but just hard, I had them on for about 1000km at most.

Ever since the last batch of Yoko 285/40 15s sold out I have also been on the lookout for a similar sized tyre. There is a listing for the Michelin 295/40 15 and 270/45 15 on the Antique tyres web site. They are listed as TB about 3/4 down the page. They are also classed as competition tyres, but DOT approved. Might be worth a phone call or email for more info.

Just found a website that says they have the hard to find yoko 285/40 15. I hope they update their website regularly and this isn't referring to the last batch that recently sold out.

do they have to be yokos?... a mate runs 275/?/15 BF Goodrich on his 588ci engined HQ munro.....was quoted nearly $300/tyre locally and when he checked online through summit racing they were around US$98/tyre...and with the exchange rate being so favourable he can get 6(with that eng he gets through em) shipped for not a whole lot more than 2 here.....takes some time but at least you WILL have some tyres

If there is interest in importing some 15's, I will happily be part of it. I will be interested in 4 x 245 / 50 / 15. Ron.
