My son has just bought a car in Sydney and we need to freight it to Melbourne. Car is not currently running. We are looking for the best possible price. He is on a tight budget. More concerned with price than how fast it comes, etc. Any thoughts please. Thanks R

good luck as hard enough to find someone that will transport a nonrunner let alone for a good price. I had no luck last year getting someone to bring a non runner from adelaide to brisbane for under 2K so i hooked the trailer to the cruiser picked up a mate to share the driving and did the trip return in 2 days cost me about 1k in diesel

The biggest drama, as said is the fact it doesnt go.

I just got my new VT brought up from melbourne for 350 bucks.

If my transport driver from work here is going down i could have had it for free! going or not. Maybe befriend a truckie?

With the car not running you will not have too many options. l recently used

Russell Parr

Russell was excellent, he works for himself and l am sure would transport it for you, he is in Melbourne so that helps too. He is not expensive but he is not going to be bargain basement either.

Cheers Mondie

Ron

I have done some costs with this type of transport service over the last month or so, and If TOLL are offering you $490.00 then jump at it quickly , but just make sure that is for a non going car, as when I rang they indicated that the car must be able to make it onto the truck under its own power. As do most of the major car transport companies... There are some independent carriers who will offer a full tilt tray service.. I had a company pick up the LC from Coffs Harbour non going for $350.00 which after ringing around was a bloody good price, (adding up trailer hire, fuel and time cost for me to do it).. I will find out today at what the cost will be and let you know.. The only downer is that you will have to wait for it to come as they type of service is only offered on a backload rate... Wayne
