I just found some wheels, which upon first glance look like HX LE 'Honeycomb' wheels. The centres, however, feel like they are made out of rubber, ie: it's a relatively soft material. Is this how they were made, or have I got some dodgy copies?

Thats how they are. The honeycomb is rubberised. Perhaps a rubber coating to the alloy.

Sweeeet. Dad said the same thing, there's a rubber coating on the alloy.

Should be a steel rim, with like a rubber hubcap stuck to it [vulcanised].Hard to get balanced these days as most shops use a cone through the centre bore when fitting to the balancer and think it's alloy, but as it's rubber it gets a wobble up and cracks through the webbing.Took mine off my LE as I was unable to find a shop in my area with a balancer that uses the wheel studs for fitment,or did on car balancing.

Yeah, it's a steel rim. I'll chuck some pics up tomorrow.

There they be. Apparently they were found on 4 door Monaro's aswell, but in silver instead of gold. Can anyone confirm?

Hi Tim.

The 7" Polycast wheel (in silver) was an option for all HJ, HX & HZ Holdens, not just Monaros.

The only Holden they were fitted as standard to was the HX LE (in gold).

It’s an oldie but found this while trying to find some info on these rims.
Has anyone removed the the honeycomb material off of the rim?
I’m lead to believe that they’re a gts rim with the honeycomb moulded onto them?

Two different things.
GTS is a steel pressed rim.
LE wheels are cast.

I wouldn’t of thought a cast rim would have surface rust?
