Nah dont do it. Just chuck some UC tail lights on man. Instant street cred !! :stirpot:

Seriuosly, I reckon it would be different for sure. Might be a bit exy though. Dunno how hard it would be to photoshop a dummy.

Yeah, know what you are saying. LEDs would look a treat,
and could be almost identical, but one of those things that
you do a double take of, not quite sure what the change is.

If you are not proficient in PhotoShop, I'd be happy to do some
ideas for you. Post some good pics day/night of the back of your
Torrie and I'll use them as the base.

Hah, if you got really tricky, you could use a scrolling LED message panel,
and when not driving, scroll all sorts of stuff across your lights!!!
How good would that look!! Scroling SLR 5000 from one across to the other.

Cheers, Leakey

Yeah..that would be GR8....and when the cops pull you over...they could just write "DEFECTED"...instead of using the annoying yellow stickers.

would be interested in the clear lense theory. Ive been toying with this idea my self. I thought of getting a large clear truck reversing lense, using a hot box and moulding it to the existing lense shape. Cut out existing lense from surround leaving small ledge, paint this to suit surround ( black/ silver) Glue in new clear lense. What do you guys think? Easier ways to do it?
Thanks Jayson

I've always thought simple square LED's behind clear lenses on the black LJ would look OK?

hell I dont mind anyone photoshopping my tail lights, there are plenty of pics around but if someone really needs shots I can provide them.

I hope someone can supply Jeremy with what he wants. I would do it myself but photoshop is not one of my skills.

Cheers

actually I am really interested in this. As I am building a 'Torailer' as my design and technology major project, I was thinking of including LED taillights as a design feature, as a well as the technology aspect. Interesting to see how this turns out.

Keep us posted m8!

I think the idea has merit. + it will give us a use for all the faded tail lights we have been hoarding.

Back in the early 80's i looked at having a perspex screen fitted to the bobtail on the SLR. With a rolling scroll in LED & a keypad in the glove box.

The D.O.T. didn't like it! They said NO!

Strangely enough the police had the same thing a few years later?

I was living with a computer tech at the time, he also toyed with the idea of a mobile gps. If only we had the $ to match our enthusiasm!

Probably for the best though! I would hate to have to pick a color for my new Porsche GT-3! LOL

I made some clear LH/X tail lights a while back, I had to leave the reflector in so they were legal though, that made them look a bit dicky tho

Hi Makka, did you keep any photo's buddy? Be nice to see how they turned out regardless of reflectors :)
