Yep, SA is having another GMH-Torana cruise. This time, it's 16th March, leaving from Tea Tree Plaza at 10:30 (that means leaving at 10:30, not turning up at 10:45, and then having to go and get petrol

In previous years, we've taken a cruisy hills drive to Murray Bridge, but this year, we'll be heading to Mannum via Chain of Ponds, Gumeracha and Birdwood, and having a BBQ lunch by the river (desert?) banks.

There will be a gold coin donation for the cruise, cans of drink will be available, as well as a BBQ lunch for a small fee. All net profits will go to the forum - that reminds me, I think we still have a few funds from last year that need to go to the forum too.

So, the basics are;

Leaving from Tea Tree Plaza Shopping Centre car park at 10:30 sharp - assemble just behind the McDonalds from 10 AM.

Heading off up North East Road and through Chain of Ponds road (you interstate guys don't know what you're missing if you haven't driven Adelaide Hills Roads)

Parking at Mannum just near the ferries.

BBQ lunch.

Make your own way home from there, either back out to the freeway for the southeners, or back via Chain of Ponds for the northies.

All Torana owners and enthusiasts welcome. The cruise is organised by the Holden Torana Club of SA, but it's for all Torana enthusiasts, whether they are members or not. Please try to bring along the Toranas, but if you can't, then bring what you can.

Oh, and it's a cruise, not a race - stupid behaviour will not be tolerated.

Hope to see lots of people there.

Cheers,

Dave G.

JustaLJ - good stuff!

Rim - I'll ask around, but any chance you can get yourself up to the starting point - we might have a spare seat or two there.

Sik208 - you might be surprised at how little fuel you use in a country cruise compared to a city one. At the worst, how about you come along to the start for a look around and a chat, and cruise up to Gumeracha or Birdwood. We'll probably stop at these points for a catchup anyway. Hmmm, on second thoughts, why not give Rim a bum on a seat, and sting him for fuel costs :D

I was thinking that maybe one of the South Adelaide boys that may be attending this cruise may be able to pick me up. I'm fairly sure that SIK208 is up in North Adelaide...

Failing someone being able to pick me up, if I can work out a bus route from here to Tea Tree Plaza, I'm there :D

Speaking of heatwave - the long range forecast for the 16th is 38C - at our meeting last night, we discussed this, and voted to reschedule the cruise on the 20th April.

Part of the fun of this cruise is the BBQ and get together at the end of the cruise, and it's also a cruise through the hills, where if anyone does break down due to the heat, it can take some time for help to arrive. So the decision was made to reschedule in the hope it was going to be a bit cooler, and we would still have a BBQ at the end of the cruise.

how about a more 'central' meeting point in the next cruise. is the feesable? as I'm sure a fair few members would probably avoid the cruise due to the distance they need to travel to the starting point.

I was thinking the same thing, Matt... Tea Tree Plaza is a fair trek from down our way...

Cheers

Where would you suggest? Given that this cruise is up through the Hills via North East Road, no matter where we meet, we will be driving past TTP anyway, so you'd end up travelling the same distance no matter where you came from.

Also, as Kaz says, if thre's enough interest in any cruise, we tend to pick more than one meeting point to cater for people living south and north.

Just a reminder - it's still on. We've dropped the BBQ option though, as there's plenty of eateries within walking distance of where we'll be parking.
