LX Hatch. The difference between the "normal one" and a sunbird and below the insert for the shifter boot for LX 6 and 8cyl.

Again credit to REDA9X for photo and info,

Torana consoles are different again to HJ-WB as pictured they are flatter along the bottom than Torana, which is waves along to suite the floor pan.

The pic shows early LX SLR5000 small shifter surround with the hinged lid forward of it. This is the console for the early (small shifter) and late (large shifter) are physically different. I believe if you fit the smaller surround to the larger shifter you will crack the surround changing from first to second.

Does anyone have some cool custom console pics they could display?

Cheers

This is the shift boot surround you need for the later LX 6 & 8cly sedan consoles introduced around the time of RTS

There is another type of console set-up that I have never seen anywhere except in my car (until it was stolen from work)
It sat in front of the manual gearshift boot and clipped/screwed into the space normally occupied by the "coin holder/flip-up lid/hollowed space" that was found in various other mid length consoles.
The difference was that this piece was similar to the switch panel in a full length console. It had the 3 switchblanks and was painted in the SS silver.
The f*&^%^ng swine who pilfered mine also took the shifter boot/surround/gasket and even the screws.
I wish I had taken a photo as everyone I have talked to thinks I must have been confused with the full length console. I still have the console the bits were stolen from and it is definitely not.
Please post a picture if anyone has one
Willing to commit heinous acts to get my hands on one (or the bloke that stole it!!)

Do 75' LH SLR5000's only come with the lift-up lid or could you get the tray insert?
Both my cars have the insert consoles so i cant fit the lid and gear surround, are they both from an LX?

Cheers guys

LX Sunbird auto uses the same console as a normal LX hatch. The manual version has a different shifter surround which required removal of the switch panel as the shifter sits further forward, and two holes in the rear of the console shifter slot for mounting of the surround.

Thanks for looking...but i still don't think thats it. I need the one that sits forword, & has an ext. that covers the switch panel, & has the two screw holes at the back(near the coin carrier).as quote(red a9x) (lx hatch manual)
