Well the costs for a Calder session are at least $270.00; she who must be obeyed would never go for it.

As to the other options, Ive had my licence for 32 years but I freely admit that, that doesnt make me a racing car driver.

I'm interested in having a bit of fun, but having no idea of my or the cars ability I would at least be more interested in having 1 or 2 reasonably cheap casual, shared days to find out if I was any good & get some experience before going down the path of licensing & fire suits.

I'm pretty sure the scrutineering will be at another level too, which will mean greater preparation cost's to ensure it was safe to have a play.

My suggestion is to try the shared day idea for at least the first time so that there arent as many virgins on the track doing dumb things once/if we do a GMH-T only day.

This could also allow the ones with some experience to give tips and assistance in between drives to the 1st timers.

Anyhow those are my thoughts.

Paul

I'd love to go but it depends on when and also what state my car is in. If I can't race then I will spectate...

Cheers,
Brett

$30 entry fee, $85 trailer hire, $80+? tow car fuel, $50+ race car fuel, a bacon and egg sanger on the way up and a greasy hamburger for lunch at track prices?

I know where my votes going :spoton:

Just don't forget the presents fellas. :tease:

It appears option 3 is winning at the moment... Maybe we just organise a GMH-Torana convoy up to the fun day?

Sandown is booked out untill the end of July.

I am sure most people would prefer a closer venue, but in a lot of ways Winton is easier... the hardest part is getting there. :fool:

Did you get an idea on prices for sandown?

Maybe later in the year i would be interested in towing the car up for a "fun day"

I suppose the best thing is, If it rains... you can still race!

Tim

Clocked up almost 500km's on it last weekend doing the round trip to Heathcote/bendigo. Drove it there, Got it Scrutineered and raced! Full street trim!

Petrol would have cost me around $150-200 in petrol mate...

My car has actually never been on a Tandem while i have owned it...

It's more that Photobucket rapes the quality even worse than YouTube, and the player isn't nearly as nice in my opinion. You can't embed or anything either AFAIK. Each to their own...

I would go the youtube option as well.

Well guys the fun day option is winning.

So far we have 3/60 to book the whole circuit. :fool:

It may be worth just going to a fun day this year, and trying to get everyone along as Paul mentioned so next year when we do a proper track day there won't be as many newbies.

After much stuffing around, I finally managed to get some in-car footage from Calder onto youtube.
I've added it to my racecar thread.

Ok guys, looking at the poll, we are about 57 people short of hiring the circuit for ourselved (just so you know i voted for that one), We only have one interested in a practise day (possibly because its a Friday?) and 8 interested in the Fun day. :fool:

Unless things change in the very near future I would suggest the Winton Track day will be the Fun day. Maybe we could organise a convey up together? Or would people rather stay in Benalla Friday nite?

I have accomodation in Baddaginnie, about 20k's south of Winton.
Pity it wasn't the Jan. fun day. This mate is on an acreage. Plenty of tent room. I will most probaly drive to the track and stay after the day.

I have accomodation for one in Benalla, so that would most likely be my choice, unless others are heading up.

Sorry we won't have you there micklx. You've probably got plenty of track experience compared to the rest of us. Maybe next year we can organise a full track day and you can come to that?

Are people still interested in this? Theres no point organising anything if no one wants to go along.

I will be going to the Fun day.
