Ha ha ha ha.

Not the TRD then? I thought they had the Sprintex? Is it 4WD? How big is the tank?

Better stick up a picture of a dead or dying Torana I suppose.

4x4. Identical Eaton blower to a 2008/9 TRD except lots more power and torque due to the exhaust and tune. I even fitted the same front brakes and tyre size as a TRD (338mm x 28mm rotors and 265/65/17). Tank is the same as a grenade engine Hilux, about 65L. It is good on fuel, averages about 15-15.5L/100 and given my driving style that is good. Gets basically the same economy as my 2WD LS1 engined V2 CV8 and VY SS Ute did and weighs probably 500kg more. Plus included in that L/100 figure is regular 1500-2200kg towing, something neither LS car ever did. I’ve always bought the biggest and best engine available, if I could go back to the 60’s and 70’s I’d buy 327 and 350 powered Holdens, or 5.0 Torana, no way I’d be buying a 173 Holden or 4cyl Torana simply because they saved a few mpg.

I bought a HK GTS once in similar condition to that rustbucket above for $250. Luckily all the good bits had been stored inside, like steering wheel, seats etc. I stripped it of rear springs and left the rest at a mate’s wreckers. Some idiot paid like $3500 for it, and then I saw it in Gumtree a few months later for $6000 minus tags. It was worth nothing!

I’ve cut up 2 basket case Tirana’s in the last couple of years. Both were free. I was able to get lots of little bits. Even if it’s bolts and clips. Just takes time eh!

There would be quite a bit of value there as a parts car. Glass, badges, chrome mouldings, B pillar covers, tail lights, suspension, running gear, etc. Not to mention the interior, door furniture, dash, etc.

None of that would matter to the highest bidder. They’d be buying it for the tags to defraud someone.

Give the orange LJ to Marty for a couple of weeks and he'd have it back to as good as new! B)

Looks like the bumper would be worth scavenging.

There used to be heaps of this stuff around before the big scrap purge about 10 years ago. I remember the back "streets/roads" in parts of NSW where you'd drive around and find (and these are actual things I saw and recorded) HT Monaro, HK Premier, HK Kingswood, LH SL/R plus a myriad of other stuff like single spinner Fords, HR's etc etc. Lots of it on the sides of roads just sitting in the bush where left. Even on properties, you'd just ask and for $100 you'd take the cars away. I found a HT GTS350 and HG GTS350 on one property that way. It was all there for the taking but most not worth the effort to recover, although I went to the trouble of getting the GTS350's. We recovered two Sandman vans this way too, a V8 HQ and a HZ. Most stuff simply did not rust out west of the Liverpool Ranges. My HK GTS327 and V8 GTS both came off properties out that way too, sitting for years and not really rusting at all. Today it is all gone. On the road between Inverell and Emmaville there was a property with probably 75 cars on it, half Holdens HQ and earlier. Most complete. All got taken by the scrappers, I tried to get hold of a HK sedan and a HQ cab-chassis that looked in similar condition as your average VZ is today but they went quickly to the scrappers as they were easily recovered, not hidden amongst trees and old mining hillocks.

Think it was 10 years ago gov't or whoever was paying good money for people to get rid of 'fire hazards' on properties.

Still remember as a kid on country family holidays you'd see fj utes, old trucks & alll sorts of things on properties..slr's were more suburban parked up on front lawns or carports where as valiants, monaro or gt's were all stashed away.

This one is 100% dead. The drivetrain ended up in a visible stock speedway car and the rest of it went into the Collie tip in 1986.
